Network Technician Level 2 (CCNA or equivalent) - Nairobi

Troubleshoot, operate repair and maintain medium complexity equipment.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Can handle low complexity installs, moves, repairs, uninstalls, site survey, triage, vendor escort, rack and stack equipment, install/swap out network equipment including switches and routers.

Can read blueprints and drawings.

Install, terminate, label and test cabling related to telecom circuit demarcation extensions.

Perform the work professionally.

Ability to place, connect and activate telephone devices.

Able to lift equipment weighing over 45 lbs.

Can provide training to end users and other techs on equipment.

Certifications related to equipment supported for break fix.

5-9 years of experience.

• 5–9 years experience in network support or a similar role.
  
• Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, and DHCP.
  
• Experience with Cisco or similar networking equipment.
  
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems.
  
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are an advantage.
  
• Basic understanding of Windows server environments and Active Directory is an advantage.
  

Engineer pre-requisites/Tools needed

The engineer will need

• A laptop running Microsoft Operating system (minimum Windows 11 but subject to change
  
• Console Cable
  
• A terminal emulator program. (recommended ones are Putty or TeraTerm or Poderosa)
  
• Serial Port (either built-in to the laptop or USB adapter)
  
• Networking support knowledge obtained in the field and appropriate OEM device specific training and certification needed to work on the OEM products.
  
• Teams or Webex applications for connection with Customer network NOC if required
  
• Engineering tool kit.
