Renewable Energy Investment Director

We are conducting a confidential search for a Renewable Energy Investment Director to lead investment strategy and project structuring for a renewable energy organisation based in Nairobi, working hybrid. Kenya's geothermal-led power sector makes Nairobi a natural base for a director-level investment leader who can structure bankable power projects across the region.

In this role, you will own the investment strategy and project pipeline across geothermal, solar, and wind assets including Olkaria-area developments, lead engagement with Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) and the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on offtake and licensing matters, and direct power purchase agreement (PPA) structuring and negotiation. You will lead blended finance and development finance institution engagement, including IFC, AfDB, and British International Investment, and oversee due diligence and investment committee approval processes for new project investments.

You will build and lead a team of investment and project finance professionals, partner with legal, technical, and ESG teams on bankable project structuring, and represent investment strategy to the board, DFI partners, and executive leadership. You will also drive the regional expansion of the investment pipeline into East African off-grid and grid-connected renewable opportunities.

Nice to Have:

• Direct experience with geothermal project investment or Olkaria-area developments
• Background structuring PPAs with KPLC or another East African utility
• Experience with DFI or blended finance structuring (IFC, AfDB, BII)
• Track record navigating EPRA licensing and regulatory processes
• Experience with investment committee and board-level project approval
