Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Expert to support the company's continued development of its port equipment and material handling business in Europe.

The successful candidate will bring 10+ years of professional experience with leading European port equipment or material handling companies, together with strong expertise in port cranes, loading and unloading systems, and related equipment.

This is a senior technical advisory role combining product strategy, engineering expertise, solution design, technical risk assessment, tender support, customer engagement, and technical capability development. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of market trends and leading industry technologies, as well as an informed perspective on the competitive landscape and product development direction.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert input and recommendations on the strategic development and future product direction of the company's port crane and ship loading/unloading equipment portfolio.
  
• Evaluate existing products and engineering solutions and provide technical recommendations for product improvement, optimization, and competitiveness.
  
• Lead or support the overall technical solution design for major port equipment projects, including Mobile Harbor Cranes (MHC), container handling cranes, grab ship unloaders, and continuous ship unloaders.
  
• Provide technical support for project tenders and bids, including solution development, technical specifications, and technical clarification.
  
• Support customer-facing activities by providing technical expertise during customer meetings, presentations, and business development activities.
  
• Monitor and assess emerging technologies, market trends, and industry developments in port cranes and material handling equipment and translate these insights into recommendations for the company.
  
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to the company's R&D and engineering teams, helping strengthen internal technical capabilities.
  
• Support the assessment of major product and project-related technical risks, and provide expert analysis and recommendations for resolving complex technical issues.
  
• Contribute expert perspectives on the products, technologies, and competitive strengths of major industry players and brands.
  

Requirements

Key Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  

Professional Experience

• 10+ years of relevant professional experience with leading European companies in port equipment, cranes, bulk material handling, or related industries.
  
• Extensive practical experience with port cranes and material handling equipment, preferably including product development, engineering, solution design, or technical consulting.
  
• Strong experience in the overall system or solution design of one or more of the following:
  

o   Mobile Harbor Cranes (MHC)

o   Ship-to-Shore Container Cranes (STS)

o   Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTG)

o   Grab Ship Unloaders

o   Continuous Ship Unloaders

o   Ship Loaders

o   Mobile Hoppers

o   General Gantry Cranes

 

• Strong understanding of the European port equipment and material handling market, including major manufacturers, product positioning, technological trends, and competitive advantages.
  

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in relevant engineering and technical drawing tools, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, EPLAN, or equivalent.
  
• Strong understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems used in port cranes and material handling equipment.
  
• Ability to develop and evaluate overall technical solutions, rather than focusing solely on individual components or disciplines.
  
• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  

Language

• Fluent professional English is required.
  
• German language skills would be an advantage.
