Unit Accountant

Unit Accountant | Luxury 5-Star Seaside Hotel | Hermanus, Western Cape

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Unit Accountant to join a prestigious 5-star seaside hotel in Hermanus. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with a strong hospitality background to become part of a luxury property and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial controls and supporting the overall financial performance of the hotel.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day accounting functions of the property.
  

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and accounting documentation.
  

• Process and reconcile daily financial transactions.
  

• Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting.
  

• Prepare and analyse financial reports, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  

• Monitor income, expenses, debtors, creditors and cash flow.
  

• Conduct regular balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
  

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
  

• Monitor departmental expenditure and identify variances or areas requiring attention.
  

• Ensure invoices, payments and financial documentation are processed accurately and timeously.
  

• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure adherence to company accounting procedures.
  

• Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation when required.
  

• Work closely with operational departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  

• Provide management with relevant financial information and insights to support informed decision-making.
  

• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, policies and internal procedures.
  

Requirements:

• Previous experience in an accounting role within the luxury hospitality or hotel industry is highly advantageous.
  

• Relevant accounting or finance qualification.
  

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures.
  

• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  

• Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
  

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with operational teams.
  

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  

• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Salary: R25,000 – R30,000 per month
