Senior Electrical Engineer

Savannah, USOn-sitePermanentFull-time

Posted Sep 17, 2026

EV.Careers is currently seeking a direct hire Senior Electrical Engineer for one of our partners, a manufacturer of heavy-duty specialty vehicles used in large-scale logistics and industrial operations, building across diesel, gas, and battery electric platforms. In this position, you will own electrical design end to end: functional diagram, schematics, harness design, and then out to the floor to build the prototype and make it work. There is no team that hands you a schematic and no team that turns your drawing into a harness. One engineer carries the whole thing, which means you touch every part of the vehicle rather than one slice of it. On site in the Southeastern United States.

Responsibilities
  • Develop the electrical and controls systems for a full line of heavy-duty vehicles and trailers
  • Take designs the whole way: functional diagram, schematic, harness design, release, and prototype build
  • Solve the problems that only show up on the build floor, and feed what you learn back into the design
  • Own the electrical standards, best practices, and ways of working, and keep improving them as the product line evolves
  • Build the scope of work, schedules, and task lists for electrical and controls development projects
  • Direct external design resources and coordinate with suppliers on component procurement for prototype and production builds
  • Partner with the prototype department on the right tooling and inventory levels for harness assembly
  • Handle the engineering work that comes with custom customer orders
  • Work cross-functionally across the whole vehicle rather than inside a single subsystem

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. This one is firm, and an Engineering Technology degree will not substitute.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Hands-on electrical design experience across the full range: functional diagrams, schematics, and harness design
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing environment and building prototypes
  • Comfortable working on a production floor: PPE required, with walking, standing, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally
  • Able to commit to a flexible schedule
  • Able to work on site full time in the Southeastern United States
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen (drug-free workplace)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Creo Schematics experienceHigh voltage experience on electrified platforms
  • Background in construction, agricultural, off-highway, material handling, or commercial vehicle electrical
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Trailer electrical experience: lighting, ABS, 7-way, telematics, harness routing in harsh environments
  • Experience coordinating external design houses and suppliers

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision coverage for you and your family
  • Retirement plan with employer match
  • Vacation and paid holidays
  • Genuine breadth: you work across every aspect of the vehicle instead of one subsystem, which is unusual at this level
  • A growing product line, a business with real momentum in its market, and expansion plans that include manufacturing internationally
  • Cost of living well below the major automotive metros
