ACCOUNTANT (RETAIL)
Southern Suburbs, Cape Town | R35,000 per month

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting and Reporting

• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
  
• Compile accurate monthly management reports.
  
• Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring all additions, disposals and adjustments are recorded correctly.
  

Debtors Management

• Manage the full debtors function from end to end.
  
• Process and allocate customer receipts accurately.
  
• Reconcile debtor accounts and resolve outstanding queries.
  
• Follow up on overdue accounts and monitor outstanding balances.
  

Audit Support

• Assist with the preparation, coordination and successful completion of the annual audit.
  
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation as required by the auditors.
  

Tax and Statutory Compliance

• Prepare and submit VAT, Income Tax and Ad Valorem tax returns.
  
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax legislation and submission deadlines.
  
• Assist with tax planning and related finance initiatives.
  

Finance Support to HR

• Partner with the HR department on finance-related matters.
  
• Assist with leave administration and reconciliations.
  
• Calculate employee incentives and commissions accurately.

Requirements

Requirements

• Relevant accounting qualification, such as a BCom Accounting degree or equivalent.
  
• Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles would be advantageous.
  
• Approximately 4+ years’ experience in a similar accounting position, preferably within a retail, importing, wholesale or distribution environment.
  
• Sound knowledge of VAT, Income Tax and Ad Valorem tax requirements.
  
• Strong experience in balance sheet reconciliations and debtors management.
  
• Experience working with NetSuite or a similar accounting system.
  
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  
• Excellent attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical abilities.
  
• Able to work independently, prioritise competing deadlines and communicate effectively with stakeholders across different departments.
