HYBRID SENIOR ACCOUNTANT (FINANCIAL SERVICES) R800K PA | NORTHERN SUBURBS, CAPE TOWN

An established financial services business is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join its finance team.

This is a hands-on position suited to a technically strong accounting professional with experience in financial services or a similarly regulated environment. The successful candidate will support accurate financial reporting, effective financial controls and the smooth delivery of month-end, year-end and audit processes.

Key responsibilities

Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Complete month-end and year-end accounting processes.
Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial records.
Prepare and review balance-sheet reconciliations.
Assist with financial-statement preparation.
Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
Prepare cash-flow reports and monitor banking transactions.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements.
Prepare audit schedules and assist with internal and external audits.
Maintain effective financial controls and accounting procedures.
Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and reporting.
Liaise with internal stakeholders and provide relevant financial information.
Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and projects.

Requirements

Experience and requirements

Relevant accounting or finance degree.
Completed articles
Previous experience in financial services, lending, banking, insurance or another regulated industry would be advantageous.
Strong management-accounting and financial-reporting experience.
Good understanding of accounting standards and statutory compliance.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
Advanced Excel skills and experience using financial systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
