Intern - Data Analyst

We are looking for an Intern - Data Analyst to join our team in a fully remote capacity. Gulf Associates provides commercial advisory services that prioritize judgment and ground reality over theoretical reports. Our firm works with chief executives and sovereign entities on high stakes decisions involving joint ventures and capital deployment. Currently, a significant part of our work involves supporting a Dutch legal and regulatory advisory group as they navigate complex investment decisions in a specific territory. In this role, you will help us gather the evidence and data needed to support these critical positions.

What you will do

• Collect and organize data from various market sources to help us understand counterparty behaviors.
• Clean and verify large datasets to ensure the information used by senior partners is accurate and reliable.
• Monitor regulatory changes and public filings to track how competitors and partners are shifting their logic.
• Create clear data visualizations and charts that help simplify complex commercial concepts for client presentations.
• Support the preparation of internal briefs by summarizing research findings and highlighting key trends.
• Assist in building basic scenario models that reflect potential commercial outcomes for our clients.
• Compare different sets of market data to identify contradictions or inconsistencies in reported information.
• Maintain our internal databases to ensure research from past engagements is easily accessible for current work.

What you bring

• A strong analytical mindset and a genuine interest in how businesses and markets function.
• Basic proficiency in Excel or similar tools for organizing and interpreting data.
• Clear writing skills and the ability to explain what the numbers mean in a professional context.
• High attention to detail, particularly when handling financial figures or legal entity names.
• The ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while staying organized.
• Objectivity when looking at data, with a focus on facts rather than assumptions.
• Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
• A willingness to learn the specific ways state capital and private deals interact in the market.
