Highway Maintenance Officer

5-6 months contract with a local authority

 Rate: £250 per day umbrella

Summary

• This role involves a 5-6 month contract with a local authority, offering a daily rate of £250 under an umbrella arrangement. The primary responsibility is to supervise and manage highway maintenance operations, ensuring the network is kept safe and functional for local communities. The position supports the execution of reactive, preventative, and routine maintenance programs across various infrastructures, including footways, carriageways, cycle paths, drainage systems, and public rights of way.
  

Responsibilities

• Perform regular inspections of the highway network to identify defects and maintenance needs.
  
• Accurately document findings using appropriate systems and procedures.
  
• Ensure adherence to statutory obligations for highway maintenance.
  
• Investigate reported highway issues and develop maintenance recommendations.
  
• Conduct site visits, measurements, surveys, and fact-finding missions.
  
• Assist with detailed investigations as needed, such as drainage surveys, trial holes, and road core assessments.
  

Requirements:

• Essential Experience Required
  • Background in highways maintenance, civil engineering, construction, or a related field.
    
  • Proven ability to work independently, achieving objectives while managing multiple priorities.
    
  • Experience in problem-solving and implementing effective solutions.
    

• Essential Qualifications Required
  • A-Level, NVQ Level 3, or an equivalent qualification.
    
  • HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Highways, Construction, or a related discipline.
    

Additional Information

• Working hours are 37 hours per week, with flexibility between 0700 and 1900.
  
• The contract extends until March 2027.
  
• A valid driving license and DVLA web check are required.
  
• The role is operational, with four days per week spent in the County or office.
  
• Payments are processed bi-weekly.
