The Staff Pad is proud to partner with a respected healthcare organization in Breckenridge, TX to recruit an experienced Director of Peri-Operative Services to lead clinical and operational activities across perioperative and ambulatory services, including the Operating Room, oversee patient care, staffing, operations, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director fulfills key responsibilities while adhering to hospital policies, maintaining confidentiality, upholding organizational values, and fostering a professional, respectful, and collaborative work environment.

Schedule:

  • Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Flexibility Based on Surgical Volume, Staffing & Operational Needs
  • Nursing Administration On-Call Rotation Required | Weekends & Holidays as Needed

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse, the Director of Perioperative Services:

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership for perioperative services, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care
  • Coordinate staffing based on patient needs, surgical volume, and staff competency; recruit, evaluate, coach, and develop staff
  • Assign responsibilities based on licensure, scope of practice, competency, and skill level
  • Establish and maintain perioperative policies, procedures, workflows, orientation, education, and competency standards
  • Partner with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing leadership, and hospital departments on scheduling, staffing, equipment, supplies, and service needs
  • Maintain compliance with patient rights, surgical safety, infection prevention, sterile technique, consent, time-out, medication, specimen, documentation, handoff, and continuity-of-care requirements
  • Manage patient flow, room turnover, case preparation, and equipment and supply readiness
  • Coordinate with Sterile Processing and other departments to support safe and effective surgical operations
  • Support equipment selection, technology implementation, emergency preparedness, capital planning, and resource allocation
  • Oversee the departmental budget and promote cost-effective use of resources
  • Evaluate surgical volume, staffing, productivity, quality, patient outcomes, and operational performance; implement improvements as needed
  • Champion quality improvement, patient safety, risk management, incident review, and regulatory readiness activities
  • Advance perioperative goals, strategic initiatives, and opportunities for service growth
  • Represent the department as an active member of the Nursing Administration Team and act in an administrative capacity when assigned
  • Provide clinical or administrative coverage as needed and perform other duties assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer or Chief Executive Officer

What We Are Looking For

Education & Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program required
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Current, unrestricted Texas RN license or privilege to practice in Texas required
  • 2+ years  of perioperative nursing experience preferred
    • Relevant experience preferred; candidates with varying experience levels are welcome
  • BLS (Healthcare Provider) certification required within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS and PALS certifications required within 90 days of hire
  • TNCC certification required within six months of hire
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing, surgical safety, sterile technique, workflows, and applicable standards required
  • Experience developing, reopening, expanding, or launching perioperative services preferred
  • Previous leadership or management experience in a perioperative setting preferred
  • CNOR certification preferred

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • Ability to perform calculations required for safe nursing practice and departmental operations
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing; Spanish preferred
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and resolve routine and complex job-related issues
  • Proficiency in email, Microsoft Office, internet applications, and electronic health records
  • Ability to direct, supervise, and delegate staff according to scope of practice and competency
  • Regularly lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 150 pounds
  • Remain composed under stress and respond effectively to patient, staff, and public needs

Candidates must successfully pass a standard background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.
