Mobile Application Developer (React Native)

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain high-quality mobile applications for iOS and Android, both natively (Swift / Kotlin) and in React Native, choosing the right layer for each feature.

• Own end-to-end release management: code signing, provisioning, build pipelines, App Store Connect and Google Play Console submissions, phased rollouts, review-rejection handling, and release notes.

• Implement and operate React Native over-the-air (OTA) update pipelines (e.g., Expo Updates / EAS Update, CodePush or equivalent), including channel strategy, rollback, and version-gating.

• Integrate and manage Firebase services — Authentication, Cloud Firestore / Realtime Database, Cloud Messaging (push), Crashlytics, Remote Config, Analytics, and App Distribution.

• Build robust networking layers: RESTful POST/GET API integration, request batching, retry/backoff, and real-time communication via WebSockets or Server-Sent Events (SSE).

• Implement bulk upload capabilities for large media and data sets — chunked/resumable uploads, background transfer, queueing, progress tracking, and failure recovery under poor connectivity.

• Lead mobile security audits: secure storage (Keychain / Keystore), certificate pinning, obfuscation, secrets handling, OWASP MASVS alignment, dependency vulnerability scanning, and remediation of findings from internal or third-party penetration tests.

• Design, develop, and ship Unity-based VR applications (Meta Quest / OpenXR), including interaction and spatial UI design, performance optimisation for standalone headsets, and end-to-end store submission and updates.

• Write clean, testable code with unit, integration, and UI tests; participate in code reviews and set mobile and XR engineering standards.

• Monitor app health (crash rates, performance, ANRs, battery, network usage, VR frame-rate stability) and drive continuous improvement.

• Collaborate closely with backend, product, design, and QA teams; translate product requirements into technical designs and estimates.

• Ensure apps comply with platform policies and regional data-protection requirements (e.g., UAE PDPL), including consent flows and privacy manifests.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional mobile development experience, with shipped apps on both the App Store and Google Play.

• Strong native proficiency in Swift/SwiftUI (iOS) and Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android), including platform lifecycle, permissions, background processing, and native module development.

• 3+ years of production React Native experience, including native bridging/Turbo

• Hands-on Unity (C#) development for VR applications, with at least one VR app shipped to a store (Meta Quest Store / App Lab, SteamVR, or Pico Store). Solid understanding of XR Interaction Toolkit / OpenXR, 6DoF tracking, hand and controller input, spatial UI, and comfort/locomotion best practices, plus experience profiling and optimising for standalone headsets (frame-rate budgets, draw calls, occlusion, foveated rendering).

• Modules, navigation, state management, and performance tuning.

• Proven ownership of store deployments and release pipelines (Fastlane, Xcode Cloud, Gradle, CI/CD such as GitHub Actions or Bitrise).

• Hands-on experience implementing React Native OTA updates in production.

• Deep experience with Firebase across authentication, database, messaging, and crash reporting.

• Solid understanding of REST API design and consumption, including authenticated POST endpoints, multipart uploads, and pagination.

• Experience implementing real-time features using WebSockets and/or Server-Sent Events.

• Experience building bulk/batch upload flows for large files or datasets, including resumable and background uploads.

• Demonstrated experience conducting or remediating mobile security audits.

• Candidate must already be based in the UAE and willing for an onsite role in Abu Dhabi.
