Make Impact That Matters

Are you ready to turn purpose into measurable progress?

We are looking for a sharp, driven ESG Specialist who doesn’t just talk about sustainability — they operationalise it. You’ll sit at the heart of our Shared Value & Sustainability team, helping shape how the organisation embeds Environmental, Social and Governance excellence into everything we do.

This is not a pure reporting role. You’ll influence strategy, drive Enterprise & Supplier Development (ESD) impact, strengthen governance, and help the business turn ESG commitments into real-world outcomes for communities, suppliers, employees and the planet.

What You’ll Own

Under the leadership of the Manager: Social Programs and ESG (and working closely with the General Manager: Shared Value and Sustainability), you will:

  • Bring specialist ESG expertise to life by operationalising the Group’s ESG Strategic Framework and policies
  • Drive the ESG and ESD operational plan so that targets become tangible results
  • Provide technical muscle to Enterprise & Supplier Development programmes that create genuine social impact
  • Scan the local and global landscape for best-practice insights and translate them into practical recommendations
  • Act as subject-matter expert to the ESG Committee, guiding execution of the strategic framework
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, assess ESG risks, and embed sustainability into day-to-day operations
  • Help business units measure what matters — and turn the data into meaningful input for Social & Ethics Committee and other governance reports
  • Coordinate Group-wide data collection, impact assessment and progress tracking against strategy-aligned metrics
  • Champion a data-driven culture by analysing ESG information and feeding insights to managers for better decision-making
  • Evaluate ESG and ESD proposals for regulatory compliance and strategic fit before we partner with external service providers
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews of ESD initiatives so we can continuously improve and report with credibility
  • Ensure robust administrative and compliance discipline across business units to support internal audits and BBBEE (including ESD) requirements
  • Put internal SLAs in place for ESG projects and keep stakeholders and beneficiaries aligned on legislative obligations
  • Contribute to upskilling colleagues on ESG best practices
  • Own the integrity of ESG data across the Group in line with approved frameworks, standards and disclosure metrics
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support the development of practical systems, tools and methodologies so every business unit knows how to report meaningfully
  • Help set clear objectives, targets and assessment matrices, then track outputs and outcomes
  • Work with partners to ensure every ESG and ESD initiative is properly monitored, evaluated and impact-demonstrated
  • Administer the ESG and ESD budget with discipline — allocate funds correctly, keep accurate records, fix errors promptly, and ensure payments meet Finance requirements
  • Prepare high-quality management reports for ESG Committee, EXCO, Social & Ethics Committee, BBBEE scorecard and the annual integrated report
  • Host and develop ESG Data Interns as part of our skills development programme

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

Must-haves

  • Relevant qualification (minimum NQF Level 6; Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability or a related field strongly preferred)
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience, with solid exposure to ESG or closely related fields
  • Strong working knowledge of ESG frameworks, standards and reporting requirements
  • Proven ability to turn frameworks into actionable insights and high-quality written outputs (reports, presentations, case studies)
  • Hands-on experience with data, dashboards, reporting systems and Monitoring & Evaluation of ESG initiatives
  • Solid project management, relationship-building and networking skills
  • Sound judgement and decision-making ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint) plus data management and analytics tools
  • High attention to detail and data integrity
  • Willingness to travel

Nice-to-haves

  • Registered EAP or Pr.Sci.Nat.
  • Working knowledge of data automation, analytics tools and digital ESG reporting platforms
  • Valid driver’s licence

Why This Role Matters

We don’t treat ESG as a compliance checkbox. We treat it as a strategic lever for long-term value creation and social impact. You’ll have the opportunity to influence real decisions, work with passionate people across the Group, and see the tangible difference your work makes — from supplier development to community programmes to stronger governance reporting.

If you thrive at the intersection of strategy, data, relationships and purpose, we’d love to hear from you.

Ready to help shape our sustainability story? Apply now and bring your ESG expertise to a role where impact is the measure of success.
