Lead AI Digital Twin Scientist (M/F)

You will lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-enabled Digital Twin solutions that help cities and public organizations make smarter, data-driven decisions. Working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, urban data platforms, geospatial technologies, and digital twin architectures, you will drive innovative projects that transform complex urban data into actionable insights. You will define technical and scientific roadmaps, lead multidisciplinary teams, collaborate with public-sector stakeholders, and oversee the delivery of scalable and interoperable solutions supporting urban planning, sustainability, mobility, climate resilience, and digital transformation initiatives. The role combines scientific leadership, innovation strategy, project acquisition, and hands-on involvement in cutting-edge AI and Digital Twin technologies.

Your profile:

• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Geomatics, Urban Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of post-PhD experience in research, innovation, or advanced technology environments.
• Strong expertise in Digital Twins, Smart Cities, Urban Data Platforms, Data Spaces, and AI-driven solutions.
• Proven experience leading R&D projects, funding acquisition, multidisciplinary teams, and stakeholder engagement.
• Solid knowledge of Digital Twin architectures, geospatial technologies (CityGML, IFC/BIM, OGC), IoT integration, and urban simulation.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML, forecasting, optimization, computer vision, generative AI, or agentic AI systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms, APIs, microservices, open-source technologies, and MLOps practices.
• Knowledge of FIWARE, NGSI-LD, Smart Data Models, Gaia-X, Eclipse Dataspace Components, IDS, SIMPL, and European Data Spaces is a strong advantage.
• Experience working with municipalities, public administrations, smart city ecosystems, or European innovation projects (Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, Interreg) is highly valued.
• Strong publication record, scientific leadership skills, and the ability to translate research into operational solutions and real-world impact.
• Fluent English is mandatory; French and/or German would be a significant asset.
