Functional Analyst

We're looking for an experienced Business Analyst who can sit between the business and the build team. You'll take business requirements that are often incomplete, verbal or framed as outcomes, and turn them into functional specs the business can sign off and technical specs developers can build from without guesswork. You'll own each requirement from the day it's raised until it's delivered, tested and accepted.

What you'll do:

• Run workshops, interviews and process walkthroughs with stakeholders, subject matter experts and operations teams.
  
• Challenge stated requirements to find the real business need, and resolve gaps, contradictions and assumptions.
  
• Map as-is and to-be processes, and flag regulatory, audit and data-protection impacts.
  
• Write functional specifications covering process flows, use cases or user stories, business rules, validation and calculation logic, roles and permissions, exception paths and testable acceptance criteria.
  
• Turn approved functional specs into technical specs covering data model changes, API and integration contracts, data migration mappings, configuration versus customisation decisions, and non-functional requirements.
  
• Work with solution architects and developers on feasibility, sizing and platform constraints.
  
• Maintain the requirements traceability matrix, groom the backlog and make sure work meets the definition of ready.
  
• Support build, SIT and UAT, triage defects, and tell genuine defects apart from change requests.
  
• Run impact assessments on change requests and keep business and technical stakeholders aligned on scope and trade-offs.

Requirements

Requirements:

• 7+ years as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst, writing both functional and technical specifications.
  
• A relevant degree or diploma in IT, Information Systems or Business. IIBA (CBAP/CCBA) or similar is an advantage.
  
• Strong process modelling skills (BPMN) and experience in requirements elicitation.
  
• A sound technical grasp of data models, APIs and integrations, data migration and non-functional requirements.
  
• Experience working in Agile delivery, with backlog management, user stories and definition of ready.
  
• Hands-on support of SIT and UAT, including defect triage.
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication with both business and technical audiences.
