Vet Care Assistant (Paravet)

Veterinary Care Assistant:

1. Confidently handle and restrain animals as per the ‘fear free clinic’ concept
2. Provide enrichment, affection and essential care to the pets wherever needed
3. Provide nursing care and comfort to hospitalised patients including health checking, feeding, grooming and walking animals
4. Monitoring the activities of pet, gait, water intake, urination & defaecation
5. Maintain sanitary conditions of the admitted pets
6. Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the cage, the ward & the areas
7. Follows the instructions and guidance given by the vet/ senior nurse
8. Assist the Veterinary nurse when they are giving medications
9. Provide fresh food and clean water for patients within the guidelines of the treatment plan set by the veterinarian
10. Segregating & maintaining the laundry load as per the SOP set for the area
11. Organising the H.K staff for the general cleaning and deep cleaning of the wards as per the SOP
12. Cleaning bedding, such as blankets and mats, as per the SOP set for the items
13. Cleaning and sanitizing equipment, such as bowls and toys, with a pet-safe sanitizer
14. Emptying trash bins as per the biomedical waste segregation protocol
15. Wiping down walls and other surfaces of cages with a pet-safe cleaner
16. Replenishing supplies, such as water and food bowls, toys, and bedding
17. Maintaining & cleaning the tables, machines, equipment, locker, stock and counters/benchtops etc.
18. Knowledge in basic grooming procedures such as bathing, zero trimming, ear cleaning, hygiene trimming, nail cutting, emptying anal sac, ear plucking etc.
19. Must be able to observe abnormal behaviours and physical problems in the patients
20. Assist in emergency situations; assist clients to/from their cars if needed
21. Accompany the patient when it is taken for MRI procedure outside the hospital
22. Label and properly store the food, toys or other belongings staying with the admitted pet
