Managing Director

Job Description

Reporting directly to the Owner, the Managing Director will lead the sales, people and growth strategy. The ideal candidate combines a strong production engineering background with a commercial mindset. You understand the factory floor and know how to sell, and you can build teams and make decisions with confidence.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Growth

• Partner with the Owner to set the business strategy, annual targets and scaling plan

• Identify growth opportunities: new products, new markets, new customer segments and export potential

• Prepare and manage annual budgets, P&L and capital investment plans (machines, capacity expansion)

• Take operational and commercial decisions independently within agreed authority, escalating strategic matters to the Owner

Production & Operations (Alexandria)

• Oversee factory operations, ensuring production plans meet sales demand, quality standards and cost targets

• Drive productivity, reduce waste and downtime, and improve efficiency across production lines

• Ensure compliance with quality, health, safety and environmental standards

• Lead decisions on capacity, machinery and raw material sourcing

Sales & Commercial

• Lead the sales strategy and personally manage key accounts and major deals

• Grow revenue and market share, building relationships with distributors, factories and large clients

• Set pricing strategies in light of raw material costs and market conditions

• Align sales forecasts with production planning to avoid gaps between the two sites

People & Team Building

• Lead and connect the teams in Alexandria and Heliopolis into one aligned organization

• Build the organizational structure needed for growth and hire key roles (sales, production, quality, supply chain, finance)

• Set KPIs, run performance reviews and develop the next layer of managers

• Create a culture of accountability, communication and results across both locations

Reporting

• Provide the Owner with regular reports on production, sales, financials and progress toward targets

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Production, Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical); MBA is a strong plus

• 12–15+ years of experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (Plant Manager, Operations Director, GM or similar)

• Proven experience in plastics manufacturing (injection molding, extrusion, blow molding) or a closely related industry such as packaging or FMCG manufacturing

• Strong commercial track record, with direct experience growing sales and managing key clients

• Experience managing multi-site teams and building teams from the ground up

• Solid financial understanding: P&L, budgeting, costing and pricing

• Decisive, hands-on and comfortable working closely with a business owner

• Willing to split time between Alexandria and Cairo

• Excellent Arabic and strong English
