Surgical ICU Nurse

We are currently seeking a Surgical ICU Nurse for our client hospital in Dublin, Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Provide intensive nursing care to critically ill post-surgical patients.
  

• Monitor vital signs, neurological status, and respiratory function.
  

• Care for ventilated and intubated patients.
  

• Administer IV medications, blood products, and emergency drugs.
  

• Manage patients after major surgeries 
  

• Perform wound care, infection prevention, and pain management.
  

• Respond rapidly to emergencies and deteriorating patients.
  

• Maintain accurate ICU documentation and nursing records.
  

• Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, physiotherapists, and multidisciplinary teams.
  

• Support and educate patients and their families.
  

Requirements

• Registered General Nurse qualification.
  

• NMBI registration or eligibility for registration.
  

• BSc Nursing preferred.
  

• Minimum 1–2 years recent ICU/Critical Care experience.
  

• Experience in Surgical ICU, General ICU, or Trauma ICU preferred.
  

• Knowledge of Ventilator management, Critical care monitoring, Emergency response, Post-operative care
  

• Strong clinical assessment skills.
  

• Ability to work in fast-paced ICU environments.
  

• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  

• ACLS/BLS certification desirable
