Senior Software Engineer

Education :

Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science is a minimum education requirement.

A bonus : EPA 608 Certification.

Experience :

At least 8 years experience delivering embedded firmware and related mobile/desktop applications, including development, testing, and support through the full product software lifecycle from concept through post-launch.

Prior experience leading new-product-development projects for engineered tools, machines, or comparable connected products-translating early concepts into production-ready designs, defining specifications and test plans, tracking milestones, and supporting product release and production-line issues.

Experience providing technical leadership on complex projects, mentoring less-experienced engineers, evaluating project results, maintaining released product documentation through formal change processes, and supervising a small number of direct reports.

Location :

Onsite role in Burnsville, Minnesota

Schedule :

4-day work week with daily physical presence

10-hours a day (Monday–Thursday Between 6:00am and 6:00pm)

Additional hours may be required during busier times

As a Senior Software Engineer you will lead the planning, design, and development of tools, machines, and accessory products for the HVAC/R markets both for new product introduction and improving on current designs with substantial latitude for unreviewed actions and decisions generally involving the largest and most important work on projects.

MISSIONS

• Lead other engineers in the design of individual tools and machines including acting as the lead on some projects
• Evaluate the progress and results of projects they lead
• Own the project level goals involving multiple engineers and helps to break down ambiguous tasks into smaller units, establishing clear milestones      for progress measurement
• Mentor Engineer I, II, and IIIs with their projects coaching them through complex issues and problems
• Provide technical leadership bringing design concepts to production solutions as the subject matter expert in their area
• Support department goals by designing test plans and performing testing
• Provide advanced production line support
• Develop product specifications for the company's product ideas
• Support new production development reporting on work completed at department, new product, and stage gate meetings
• Transform initial rough product designs into working production ready documents
• Update released production documentation utilizing documented change processes
• Be responsible for interviews, selection, onboarding, time approval, time off calendar management, performance reviews, and addressing         performance concerns of up to two direct reports
• Manage other duties as assigned including training others on known processes

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science

8 years of progressively demanding experience in embedded firmware and mobile/desktop application development and testing

Understanding of the new product development process

Ability to effectively communicate technical information to an audience in a presentation setting

Knowledge of lean principles

Software: Experienced in UWP, Visual C++, C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET

Software: Ability to code and test for both Android and iPhone applications

Software: Experienced in full product software life cycle from concept to post-launch

Proficiency in reading and writing in English

Highly organized, self-motivated and can work independently

Must be highly self-motivated, work with minimal supervision and be able to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills as well as excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred:

Infor ERP experience

EPA 608 Certification

SolidWorks experience

DBWorks or Enterprise PDM experience

Software: Experience in Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy, Ethernet, TCP/IP

Software: Experience with JIRA
