Reason for Coverage: Long-term permanent search
Practice Setting:
- Inpatient, OR and Call coverage
- Cases include:
- Robotic lobectomy and thymectomy
- CABG
- AVR/TAVR
- MVR/MVr
- Thoracotomy and VATS
- LVAD implantation
- Aortic dissection repair
- ECMO
- Robotic lobectomy and thymectomy
- Responsibilities include:
- Daily rounding and progress notes
- Medication management
- Consults and Consult Notes
- Discharges and Discharge Summaries
- FA in cases including EVH (Maquet Hemopro 2 Vasoview)
- GSV and radial
- Daily rounding and progress notes
- Practice includes 4 Surgeons and 4 APPs
- Level III trauma center
Schedule:
- Monday-Friday, 7:00a-5:00p
- 1:3 rotating weeknight call, 5:00p-7:00a
- 1:4 rotating weekend call, Friday 5:00p - Monday 7:00a
- Coverage dates:
- January 11 - February 1
- February 8 - March 1
- March 8 - March 29
- April 5 - April 30
- May 10 - May 31
- June 7 - June 30
- January 11 - February 1
Patient Population: Adult
EMR: EPIC
Credentialing: 60-90 days
Requirements:
- Active Washington licensure
- Board certification
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 1-year Cardiothoracic Surgyer experience or equivalent
Job Responsibilities (Generalized):
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
- Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices.
- Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
Skills:
- Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
- Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
- Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team
Requirements
Education:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
- Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
Licenses & Certifications:
- Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Washington
- National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])
- Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Washington
- National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Experience:
- While specific requirements may vary, most locum APP positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty
