ICU Telemetry Tech - PRN

The Staff Pad has partnered with a reputable hospital in Helena, MT, to find a Telemetry Technician who will play a vital role in supporting patient care through continuous cardiac monitoring and accurate telemetry system management

The Telemetry Technician monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, documents rhythm and waveform data, responds to monitor alarms, and promptly communicates significant changes to the healthcare team This role also supports the operation and maintenance of telemetry equipment and central monitoring systems to ensure uninterrupted cardiac surveillance

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, organized, and able to communicate effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment

What You’ll Do

Cardiac Monitoring & Rhythm Interpretation

• Continuously monitor patient cardiac rhythms using telemetry systems
  
• Interpret and document cardiac rhythms and waveform data
  
• Record heart rate, PR intervals, and QRS complexes from rhythm strips
  
• Recognize and document common cardiac rhythms, including:
  
  • Normal Sinus Rhythm (NSR)
    
  • Sinus Bradycardia (SB)
    
  • Sinus Tachycardia (ST)
    
  • Asystole
    
  • Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT)
    
  • Atrial Fibrillation (A-Fib)
    
  • Atrial Flutter (A-Flutter)
    
  • Ventricular Tachycardia (VT)
    
• Accurately record, mount, and place rhythm strips in patient charts
  
• Document rhythm and rate changes according to department standards
  

Alarm Response & Communication

• Respond promptly and appropriately to telemetry alarms
  
• Report significant heart rate or rhythm changes to nurses and physicians
  
• Communicate clearly with charge nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
  
• Support timely clinical intervention through accurate reporting
  

Equipment Management & Troubleshooting

• Set up, operate, and maintain telemetry monitoring equipment
  
• Ensure patient monitor alarms are properly activated
  
• Maintain availability of transmitters, lead cables, and supplies
  
• Clean equipment according to infection control guidelines
  
• Troubleshoot telemetry issues and escalate concerns when needed
  

Compliance & Administrative Support

• Provide indirect patient care under the direction of nursing leadership
  
• Follow policies for handling and transporting patient information
  
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
  
• Follow organizational standards for safety, professionalism, and privacy
  

Additional Duties

• Restock patient rooms and nursing supply areas
  
• Retrieve blood products and medications through the pneumatic tube system
  
• Order office supplies, complete work orders, and maintain inventory
  
• Provide additional support to the Director, Administrator of the Day, and ICU nursing staff as assigned
  
• Perform other duties in accordance with the Orientation Competency Inventory (OCI)
  

What We’re Looking For

Knowledge & Experience

• 2 years of hospital experience preferred
  
• Knowledge of medical terminology strongly recommended
  
• Previous clerical or receptionist experience preferred
  
• Prior telemetry training preferred
  

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
  
• Completion of all required organizational education and training
  

Licenses & Certifications

• BLS certification required within 6 months of hire
  
• Telemetry training or certification required within 1 year of hire
