Senior Security Technician / Electrical Technician

About the Role

CodeConnect Staffing is recruiting on behalf of an established security and insurance-based service provider seeking an experienced Senior Security Technician with strong electrical capabilities.

This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring a well-rounded technician who can install, maintain, diagnose and repair a variety of security systems while working professionally with clients on site.

The ideal candidate will combine security systems expertise, practical electrical capability and preferably insurance claims experience. There is also an opportunity to grow into a leadership position and assist with building and mentoring a technical team.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, fault-find and repair security and related systems.
  
• Work across gate motors, CCTV, alarm systems, garage motors and electric fencing.
  
• Diagnose technical and electrical faults and recommend appropriate solutions.
  
• Conduct site inspections and damage assessments.
  
• Assess technical issues relating to insurance claims and compile accurate damage reports.
  
• Identify circumstances where reported damage may not support a valid insurance claim.
  
• Complete relevant electrical work within the candidate's level of competency.
  
• Travel to client sites and manage assigned technical work independently.
  
• Communicate professionally with clients and explain technical findings and solutions.
  
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and customer service.
  
• Support and mentor junior technicians as the team grows.
  

Requirements

Requirements

• Several years of hands-on experience as a Security Technician, Senior Technician or similar field-service professional.
  
• Strong experience across multiple security systems, including:
  • Gate motors
    
  • CCTV systems
    
  • Alarm systems
    
  • Garage doors and motors
    
  • Electric fencing
    
• Practical electrical knowledge and fault-finding ability.
  
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
  
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned work.
  
• Willingness and ability to travel to client sites.
  
• Reliable, professional and customer-focused approach.
  

Practical technical experience will be strongly considered, as formal qualifications within the security technician field may vary.

Highly Advantageous

• Previous insurance claims or insurance-related technical experience.
  
• Qualified Electrician / Electrical Trade Test.
  
• Wireman's Licence.
  
• PV Solar Green Card.
  
• Solar and inverter experience.
  
• Air-conditioning experience.
  
• Experience conducting technical damage assessments and compiling reports.
  
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior technicians.
  

Insurance Experience

Candidates with previous insurance claims experience will be particularly well suited to the role.

Relevant experience may include:

• Assessing damage at client premises.
  
• Determining the cause and extent of damage.
  
• Identifying potentially invalid claims based on technical findings.
  
• Compiling technical or damage reports.
  
• Working directly with policyholders, insurers or insurance service providers.
  

Location

Cape Town preferred.

Strong candidates based in Durban, Johannesburg or other locations may also be considered depending on their experience and suitability.
