Head of Finance Engineering

Why this role exists

Finance is about to be rebuilt from scratch. Most of what a finance team does today is to move data between systems, reconcile it and check it. AI agents can now do that work, and they can do it on every line, every night.

We know because we did it. This year, one of our founders reviewed the accounts of roughly 1,000 investment vehicles with Claude. In two weeks, he wrote about 70 deterministic checks, then let an agent investigate every exception against the bank, the investor commitments and the source documents. It found errors that years of manual review had missed. It then drafted the correcting entries directly in our ERP.

That was a side project. We now want someone to make it the way Roundtable runs finance.

Roundtable is the infrastructure for private markets. We create and administer investment vehicles for business angels, investment clubs, fund managers and family offices, in France and Luxembourg.

Every vehicle we create comes with its own books, filings and investor reporting. Our growth depends on our ability to do that work for 10,000 vehicles with the team size we have for 1,000.

What you will do

As Head of Finance Engineering, you will report to Julien, CPO and co-founder. You will own Roundtable’s finance function end to end: group finance, accounting across our 1,000+ SPVs and funds, and the team that runs it. You build the function as a small, high-leverage team where people build tools instead of doing manual work.

1. Own the finance of the Roundtable group

Roundtable is a high-growth company. We open new countries and launch new products every year. Each of these projects is a bet, and we need to know which ones pay off.

FP&A and business partnering

• Own the annual budget and the multi-year business plan.

• Set up project accounting, so that every country and every product has its own revenue and costs.

• Track the profitability of each project, compute its IRR and compare it with the plan.

• Run the monthly reporting and the board reporting and prepare the board meetings with the founders.

• Bring the numbers into the big decisions: pricing, new countries, new products, hiring, and what we build versus what we buy.

Cash, fundraising and investors

• Own cash management, runway and banking relationships.

• Lead the finance side of our next fundraising: business plan, data room and due diligence.

• Manage the relationship with our investors on all financial matters.

Strategic projects

• Represent the finance function in our strategic projects: M&A, fundraising and major partnerships.

• Build the financial case for each project: valuation, business plan and impact on the group.

• Lead the financial due diligence with our advisors.

Accounting and compliance

• Own closings, statutory accounts and tax compliance for every group entity, in France and Luxembourg.

• Run an AI-assisted review of every entity's books, and fix what it finds.

• Automate invoicing so that revenue is billed when it is earned.

• Store and organise the accounts and supporting documents so that anyone can find them in one place.

  2. Build a scalable accounting infrastructure

• Own the roadmap to automate accounting across our 1,000+ SPVs, and turn it into a production system.

• Connect our accounting directly to the platform data, the bank feeds and the ERP, with our Product and Engineering teams.

• Design how AI agents and people work together: agents draft and flag, people review and approve.

• Make every number traceable to its source, and to the agent or person that produced it. Controls are a feature of the system, not a step after it.

• Deliver the annual accounts and filings of the SPVs on time, at a fraction of today's effort.

• Extend this approach to our funds: capital calls, distributions, fees, NAV and LP reporting.

  3. Build and lead the team

• Design the finance and accounting organisation and how it works with Operations.

• Hire and lead a team of finance and accounting engineers: people who know accounting and who build with SQL, Python and AI agents.

• Keep the team small. We measure success in leverage, not headcount.

• You are convinced that AI changes everything in finance, and you have started to act on it. You built an automation, an agent, a script or a model that removed real work. You can show it to us.

• You know accounting in depth. You come from audit, controlling, fund administration or a finance team, and you know what a clean set of books looks like.

• You think like an engineer. When you do something twice, you automate it. You read SQL and you are not afraid of Python, or you learn fast with Claude Code or Codex.

• You have built and led a team.

• Ideally you have worked with a board and investors.

• You are rigorous about verification. You know that an agent can be confidently wrong, and you design systems that catch it.

• You want ownership. You prefer to build a function from the ground up to running one that already exists.

• You work in French and English.

Nice to have: experience with SPVs, private equity or venture capital funds, Luxembourg or French GAAP, Odoo.
