Clinical Nurse Manager 2 - Quality and Patient Safety

RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in healthcare recruitment for both domestic and international candidates across hospitals, nursing homes, home care, and community care settings.

We are currently seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 - Quality and Patient Safety for a hospital based in Limerick, Ireland.

Full-time (37.5 hours per week) | Permanent

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake concise, evidence-based clinical and incident reviews in line with agreed hospital criteria, templates and timelines, covering areas such as critical transfers, falls, DVT/PE, pressure injuries, readmissions, return to theatre and surgical site infections.

  • Identify contributory factors, care-delivery concerns, good practice, learning opportunities and recommendations, ensuring factual findings, professional judgement and matters requiring specialist review are clearly distinguished and significant concerns are appropriately escalated.

  • Validate assigned audits and incident records objectively, maintain accurate QPulse documentation and audit trails, provide feedback to audit owners, and monitor corrective actions, including follow-up and escalation of overdue or incomplete actions.

  • Support risk management by identifying recurring or significant hazards, contributing to risk assessments and risk-register reviews, and coordinating the development, review and updating of relevant policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines in consultation with stakeholders.

  • Ensure assigned documents reflect current evidence, legislation, professional guidance, accreditation standards and hospital requirements, with appropriate consultation, approval, publication, communication, implementation and staff-awareness processes completed and documented.

  • Support hospital readiness for JCI accreditation, HIQA inspections and other regulatory or assurance requirements by coordinating evidence gathering, gap analysis, tracer activities, mock surveys, action planning and follow-up of findings and recommendations.

  • Use findings from clinical reviews, audits, incidents, complaints, feedback and accreditation activities to identify improvement priorities, support teams in developing measurable improvement plans, and evaluate the effectiveness and sustainability of completed actions in reducing risk and improving quality.



Requirements

  • Registered General Nurse with current registration on the live register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible for registration prior to commencing the position.

  • Minimum of five years’ post-registration nursing experience, including relevant experience within an acute healthcare setting.

  • Proven experience in quality assurance, clinical audit, patient safety, risk management, clinical governance or related healthcare quality activities.

  • Demonstrable commitment to continuing professional development in areas relevant to leadership, quality improvement and patient safety.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organisational, analytical and report-writing skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

  • A recognised qualification in management or leadership, or willingness to undertake an appropriate qualification.

  • A relevant qualification or experience in quality improvement, patient safety, clinical governance, risk management, clinical audit or healthcare accreditation, with experience of JCI accreditation, International Patient Safety Goals, tracer methodology or regulatory inspection readiness considered advantageous.
