## Summary
ME Medical Recruitment is actively recruiting a committed Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Consultant Psychiatrist) for a full-time appointment within the northern Queensland healthcare sector. ## Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced specialist psychiatric care via the Integrated Mount Isa Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug Service, covering the Homeless Health Outreach Team and remote locations in the lower Gulf.
- Offer clinical leadership and direction to multidisciplinary healthcare teams to guarantee the best possible patient results.
- Engage in strategic service planning and lead initiatives aimed at driving continuous service enhancement.
- Enable the provision of safe, contemporary, and culturally responsive mental health interventions designed for diverse community requirements.
- Partner with local stakeholders to improve the accessibility and efficacy of mental health support in regional and remote settings.
## Requirements
- Hold an MBBS degree or equivalent qualification to obtain General or Special Purpose Registrant status with the Medical Board of Australia and AHPRA.
- Possess FRANZCP (Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists) or an equivalent recognized credential.
- Maintain current registration or eligibility for Specialist registration in Psychiatry or a related clinical field with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Submit verified documentation of qualifications, registration, or professional membership with the relevant authority upon appointment.
- Demonstrate proven proficiency in English speaking and communication skills.
- Complete mandatory training for the Mental Health Act 2016 to qualify as an Authorised Doctor or Authorised Psychiatrist prior to commencing the role.
- Hold a C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
- Experience in addiction psychiatry is highly preferred.
- Show a strong commitment to public health, specifically regarding mental health challenges faced by Indigenous, rural, and remote populations.
- Successfully undergo pre-employment screening, including criminal history checks.
- As this is a VPD risk role, provide evidence of vaccination or immunity against Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
- Be prepared to serve a probationary period as per organizational policy.
## Compensation and Benefits
- *Remuneration:* A competitive package valued up to $620,673 per annum (FTE), including a base salary between $223,136 and $282,912 (L18-L27).
- *Allowances:* Includes a 50% attraction and retention incentive, a 15% regional and rural allowance, motor vehicle allowance, professional development allowance, and inaccessibility allowance.
- *Leave:* Offers 5 weeks of annual recreational leave and 3.6 weeks of professional development leave annually.
- *Superannuation:* Generous employer contribution of 12.75%.
- *Accommodation:* Provision of rent-free accommodation for the first 17 months, followed by a nominal board fee thereafter, in line with NWHHS procedures.
- *Support:* Eligibility for transfer and appointment expenses (subject to conditions) and access to tax-saving salary packaging options.
- *Development:* Access to in-house training, mentoring programs, and career development opportunities.
