We’re Hiring: Legal Assistant II
Location: Phoenix, AZ – Hybrid

Pay Rate: $18/hour
Schedule: Primarily virtual, with in-person attendance four times per month on scheduled days.

Support Administrative Law Judges at the Arizona Department of Economic Security’s Appellate Services Administration.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and verify appeals, identify legal issues, and track required deadlines.

Research case files, gather exhibits, and prepare hearing packets.

Schedule hearings and process postponements, withdrawals, and other requests.

Maintain confidential case records and upload legal decisions and dispositions.

Assist customers with escalated docket calls.

Required Skills:

Knowledge of Arizona Public Assistance and Unemployment Insurance laws, procedures, and the Administrative Procedures Act.

Strong legal research, critical thinking, organization, and attention to detail.

Proficiency with Google Workspace and Adobe Acrobat.

Experience with case management systems such as APS, Clear2There, Guide mainframe, HEAplus, AZTECS, and CACTUS Portal.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities, protect sensitive information, and work with minimal supervision.
