Veritas NetBackup Administrator

Position Overview

We are seeking a Veritas NetBackup Administrator to support the Compartmented Enterprise Services Office (CESO) effort. The role is responsible for administering, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing enterprise backup and recovery infrastructure using Veritas NetBackup across Windows, Linux, and virtualized environments.

This position is 100% onsite at Mark Center in Alexandria, VA, with occasional/situational travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Veritas NetBackup infrastructure, including Master Servers, Media Servers, and Clients.
  
• Configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize backup and restore operations, including failed-job resolution and recovery support.
  
• Create and manage backup policies, schedules, retention requirements, Storage Lifecycle Policies, and recovery configurations.
  
• Perform NetBackup maintenance, upgrades, patching, configuration changes, capacity monitoring, and performance tuning.
  
• Support backup and recovery for Oracle, SQL Server, Exchange, SAP, and other enterprise applications and databases.
  
• Support virtualized backup environments including VMware, Hyper-V, and similar platforms.
  
• Apply DISA STIGs, security hardening, compliance requirements, and commercial security best practices to backup infrastructure.
  
• Support disaster recovery, continuity of operations, restoration testing, reporting, documentation, and coordination with storage, infrastructure, database, application, and cybersecurity teams.
  

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 4+ years of related experience supporting Windows and/or Linux environments; equivalent experience, education, or training may be considered.
  
• Willing and able to obtain and maintain a CI Polygraph if required.
  
• Experience supporting enterprise backup and recovery environments, including monitoring, reporting, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  
• Strong Linux and/or Windows Server administration experience.
  
• Experience with DISA STIGs, security hardening, and government/industry security best practices.
  
• Experience supporting VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms.
  
• Knowledge of backup policies, retention, recovery procedures, data protection, and troubleshooting across servers, storage, applications, virtualization, and network-connected backup infrastructure.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior DISA/mission-partner experience with active TS/SCI + CI Poly, plus strong hands-on Veritas NetBackup 8.x/9.x/10.x administration across Master/Media Servers, policies, schedules, retention, and Storage Lifecycle Policies.
  
• Experience with Linux, VMware/Hyper-V, enterprise storage, Oracle/SQL Server/Exchange/SAP backups, complex backup/restore troubleshooting, and disaster recovery/business continuity/COOP operations.
