We are looking for an experienced IR Relations & Compliance Manager to join Browns Jewellers and take ownership of fair, consistent and legally compliant people practices across the business. You will shape how we approach discipline, grievances and statutory compliance, ensuring it reflects the excellence and sophistication our brand is known for.
This is a key role within our HR function, responsible for ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant people practices across the business.
You will manage the full employee relations lifecycle, including disciplinary and grievance matters, incapacity processes, CCMA representation, labour legislation, statutory compliance, policy development and management training.
Working closely with the HR Executive and business leadership, you will provide trusted advice on employment legislation, build management capability and ensure our people practices meet the high standards expected of the Browns brand.
Key Responsibilities
Minimum 5 years' experience in Employee Relations, Industrial Relations or Labour Law.
Proven experience managing disciplinary and grievance processes and chairing hearings.
Strong experience with CCMA conciliation and arbitration.
Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation and statutory requirements.
Strong communication, investigation, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
Experience in a multi-site retail environment is highly advantageous.
Retail or luxury industry experience would be an advantage.
Valid driver's license and own transport.
Proficiency in MS Office and HR/ER case management systems.
A postgraduate qualification or professional certification in Labour Law/Employee Relations and/or SABPP registration will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end disciplinary, grievance and incapacity processes.
- Represent Browns at the CCMA and relevant bargaining councils.
- Manage employee relations matters, investigations, conflict resolution and mediation.
- Oversee statutory compliance across relevant South African labour legislation.
- Coordinate Employment Equity, WSP and ATR requirements.
- Manage IOD/COIDA claims and support OHS compliance.
- Maintain accurate ER records, case registers and documentation.
- Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures.
- Provide expert advice to management on labour legislation and employee relations.
- Deliver practical ER and labour legislation training to managers and employees.
- Analyse ER trends and provide meaningful insights for executive reporting.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Labour Law, Labour Relations, Human Resources or a related field.Minimum 5 years' experience in Employee Relations, Industrial Relations or Labour Law.
