CAN Capital is looking for an Underwriter Associate to join our team!
CAN Capital is a market leader in small business finance with over $7B in small business fundings to over 81,000 businesses. Our Business Underwriters are critical to our business. They help drive company strategy and profitability by making smart merchant credit decisions and mitigating risk while working effectively with cross-functional teams.
The Underwriting Associate manages the loan applications workflow in Salesforce and ensures each loan application meets the completion and accuracy criteria established prior to submitting it for underwriting.
Responsibilities:
• Effectively manages application flow in Salesforce on a first-in first-out basis.
• Gathers accurate, timely information, using fact-finding techniques and tools.
• Reviews required elements of a merchant’s application to ensure the stability of CAN’s loan offers related to potential credit risks downstream, in accordance with CAN Capital Operations policies and procedures.
• Identifies missing, incomplete, or off information to ensure a full and complete picture of the merchant.
• Actions each merchant application, correcting merchant information, confirming or declining each application, as defined by procedures.
• Ensures each loan application has a complete checklist.
• Keeps accurate notes on reviewed applications, ensuring a clear audit trail.
• Consistently and efficiently works pipeline of applications meeting SLAs.
• Communicates issues and trends to leadership.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
• AA degree or higher in a business-related discipline is preferred.
• Prior experience in a professional environment is preferred, but not required.
• Salesforce or other CRM experience, preferred, but not required.
• Basic - Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and M. Teams.
• Ability to produce high-quality work within assigned SLAs.
• Ability to articulate clearly through written and verbal communication, internally and externally.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment.
• Ability to operate comfortably in a digital environment.
• Ability to work with limited supervision within authority limits in a fast-paced environment.
• Intellectual curiosity and drive to learn and grow.
• Demonstrates characteristics such as flexibility, adaptability, responsive to coaching and feedback.

Work Environment
• This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
