Summary

• This is a 3-month contract position with a local authority, offering a rate of £34.32 per hour under an umbrella arrangement. The Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, independent, and trauma-informed support to individuals affected by domestic abuse who are at risk of harm. The primary aim of this position is to enhance safety, mitigate risk, and empower survivors through advocacy, intervention, and coordinated multi-agency collaboration.
  

Responsibilities

• Provide both emotional and practical support to domestic abuse victims using a trauma-informed methodology.
  
• Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans utilizing recognized tools such as DASH.
  
• Create, implement, review, and update individualized support and intervention strategies.
  
• Assist victims throughout criminal, civil, and family court proceedings, including applications for protective orders and special measures.
  
• Facilitate access to safe housing, legal assistance, healthcare services, and specialized community resources.
  
• Engage in proactive casework, including community and home visits, as well as assertive outreach for high-risk and complex cases.
  
• Advocate on behalf of victims to minimize risk, ensure their safety, and promote positive outcomes.
  
• Address safeguarding responsibilities for adults and children promptly, adhering to statutory procedures.
  

Requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience working with domestic abuse victims.
  
• Proven experience in risk assessment, safety planning, and crisis intervention.
  
• Experience working within multi-agency safeguarding frameworks.
  
• Familiarity with supporting victims through criminal, civil, and family justice processes.
  

Essential Qualifications

• Level 3 Accredited IDVA Qualification (e.g., SafeLives IDVA or equivalent).
  
• Enhanced DBS clearance.
  

Additional Information

• Working hours: 36 hours per week.
  
• Location: 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London, NW9 4EW, United Kingdom.
  
• This role is primarily office-based, involving face-to-face interactions, with some flexibility based on service needs.
  
• Enhanced DBS is required.
  
• Payments are processed on a bi-weekly schedule.
