Summary

• This role is a 5-6 month contract with a local authority, offering a rate of £34.14 per hour under an umbrella arrangement. The Health & Safety Officer and CDM Adviser is tasked with delivering expert health and safety guidance within the Infrastructure & Transport Directorate. The individual will spearhead compliance efforts, foster a proactive safety culture, and ensure that risks are effectively identified, assessed, and managed in line with applicable laws, Council policies, and industry best practices.
  

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary health and safety consultant for the Directorate's senior management team.
  
• Offer specialized advice on the implementation of health and safety laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  
• Function as the chief CDM Adviser, ensuring adherence to CDM Regulations in relevant construction projects.
  
• Lead the creation, execution, and evaluation of the Directorate Health & Safety Management and Improvement Plan.
  
• Encourage a positive culture of health, safety, and wellbeing across all service areas.
  
• Perform audits, inspections, and reviews to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  

Requirements:

Essential Experience Required

• Proven experience in a Health & Safety advisory capacity within a complex organization.
  
• Demonstrated experience in managing health and safety initiatives, programs, and improvement projects.
  
• Experience in conducting audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  

Essential Qualifications Required

• National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) qualification or equivalent.
  
• Level 2 qualification (or equivalent), including proficiency in Maths and English.
  
• Level 3 qualification (or equivalent).
  
• Level 5 qualification or equivalent professional accreditation.

• Working hours: 15 hours per week.
  
• A valid driving license is required.

• Work pattern: Determined as needed.
