Contract Type: Zero hour contract

Pay: £13.00 per hour

Location: Balaena Tyne (formerly A&P Tyne) - Wagonway Road, Hebburn, Tyne and Wear, England, NE31 1SP

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Anchor Group Services for an experienced and professional Security Officer to join our established team at Balaena Tyne in Newcastle.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Security Officer who takes pride in maintaining a safe and secure environment while delivering a professional and approachable service. You will act as a visible security presence across the site, engaging with employees, contractors and visitors while ensuring site security procedures are followed at all times. You will be responsible for conducting regular patrols, monitoring activity across the site, managing access and gatehouse operations, responding promptly to incidents and security concerns, and maintaining accurate records in line with site procedures.

We are looking for someone with strong observational and communication skills who is confident working both independently and as part of a wider security team. You should be professional, reliable and customer-focused, with the ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions when responding to incidents.

The successful candidate must hold a valid frontline SIA Licence.

Duties include:

• Protecting the client’s property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI’s) and site-specific procedures
  
• Managing gatehouse operations and acting as a professional first point of contact for employees, contractors, visitors and delivery drivers
  
• Signing visitors and contractors in and out of the site and maintaining accurate gatehouse records
  
• Controlling access and egress to the site, checking identification and ensuring all visitors, contractors and vehicles are appropriately authorised
  
• Conducting regular security patrols of the site, identifying and reporting any suspicious activity, security risks or potential hazards
  
• Preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing offenders of policy and procedures
  
• Preventing and escalating incidents in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner to the Control Room/ Shift Manager/Operations Manager/Emergency Services as appropriate for serious incidents
  
• Completing reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities
  
• Maintaining organisation's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements
  
• Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  
• Acting as a first line support to customers and visitors to site, providing a professional and friendly service
  
• Understanding the needs of our customer, respond accordingly to customer queries and requests and take appropriate action
  
• Maintaining professional conduct at all times
  

Requirements

• Full 5-year employment checkable history
  
• Valid frontline SIA licence - DS or SG
  
• Previous security experience
  
• Confidence to respond appropriately to incidents and challenging situations
  
• Flexible to meet the job requirements
  
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  
• Smart appearance and be well-groomed
  
• Reliable, punctual and able to maintain high professional standards
  
• High level of enthusiasm and passion
  
• Ability to work in a fast-moving environment
  
• Professional and customer-focused approach
  
• Ability to remain alert and vigilant throughout the shift
