About Morse

Our mission is to make sending and receiving money effortless, borderless, and instantaneous. Morse lets you pay anyone, anywhere, by name alone – no more worrying about IBANs, account numbers, or sort codes. Leveraging blockchain technology to settle transfers, we are currently available in over 150 countries.

Morse is the first product from Avian Labs Inc., backed by VCs like Union Square Ventures, Slow Ventures, and Ribbit Capital.

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytically skilled Financial Crime & Fraud Analyst to join our financial crime team. In this role, you will be responsible for detecting, investigating, and reporting suspecting financial crime. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to protect Morse and our customers from financial harm.

What you will do

  • Monitor and analyse transactions, accounts, and customer behaviour to identify suspicious activity, using both automated systems and manual review techniques.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into alerts generated by transaction monitoring systems and escalate confirmed suspicions in line with internal procedures.
  • Prepare and submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the relevant Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and ensure regulatory reporting obligations are met.
  • Perform enhanced due diligence (EDD) on high-risk customers.
  • Support the development, tuning, and testing of fraud detection rules and transaction monitoring scenarios to reduce false positives and improve detection rates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather intelligence and drive remediation actions.
  • Stay up to date with evolving typologies, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices relating to financial crime and fraud prevention.
  • Assist with regulatory examinations, internal audits, and ad-hoc compliance projects as required.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills are mandatory, as the role involves drafting SARs and investigation reports, documenting complex financial crime cases, and communicating findings clearly with internal and external stakeholders.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Criminology, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a financial crime, fraud, or AML/CFT-related role within financial services, fintech, or a regulatory environment.
  • Strong knowledge of AML/CFT regulations, fraud typologies, sanctions regimes, and relevant legislation (e.g., Proceeds of Crime Act, Money Laundering Regulations, Bank Secrecy Act).
  • Hands-on experience with transaction monitoring
  • Excellent analytical and investigative skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw sound conclusions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with experience drafting SARs and internal investigation reports.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Bonus points:

  • Professional certification such as ICA, CAMS, CFE, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with cryptocurrency and digital asset-related financial crime risks.
