Pay: $60,000 - $75,000 per year
Job type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Location: Remote (United States)
Business leaders bring Wert Group questions that need a written answer: which investment proposals deserve funding, how reporting lines and decision rights should run after a reorganization, why a business unit keeps missing its targets. Answering them starts in the records, in investment cases and funding assumptions, reporting structures, operating records and management reports, and the work moves from those records to a recommendation the client can approve. The firm is hiring a Business Development Representative to find the conversations that begin this work, in a role that is fully remote and based in Boston, United States.
About Wert Group
Wert Group is a management consulting firm based in Boston, Massachusetts, covering strategy, organization and governance for business leaders, owners and management teams. Engagements run from the records first: we compare options, document who is responsible for what, and set out the priorities and steps that put a change in place. What the client receives is written down, usually as a decision paper for the people who approve the change, together with the requirements that follow from it.
The Position
You identify and open conversations with prospective clients whose situation matches the firm's services, then qualify what they need before an engagement lead takes the call. You keep the firm's pipeline records accurate and current, and you follow up with people who have asked for a proposal, a second meeting or more detail on how a governance or operating model review would run. The work suits someone who reads a company's public filings and reports before writing a first message and who can describe a service in plain sentences.
Responsibilities
You work alongside the firm's consultants and the engagement lead responsible for each new client relationship, and you are often the first person a client-side manager speaks to. Once a call is scheduled, the consulting team takes over the substance while you keep the record of what was said and what comes next.
Your First Review
In your first weeks you read the decision papers and engagement summaries the firm has produced, so the services sit in your mind in the firm's own terms. You then sit in on a first client review and hear how the engagement lead frames the question. You contribute to your first written recommendation by preparing the account note that goes with it.
Wert Group is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability or veteran status.

Responsibilities
- Research target companies and write first-contact messages that reference their reporting structure, operating model or governance questions.
- Qualify inbound and outbound interest with a short set of questions about the client's situation, decision makers and timeline.
- Compare and rank accounts against the firm's service lines and keep the ranking current as information changes.
- Track every contact, call and next step in the customer relationship management system from the first email onward.
- Set up calls between prospective clients and engagement leads, and send the agenda and background notes ahead of each one.
- Record the objections and questions that come up most often and pass them to the consulting team in a short written note.
- Follow up after proposals have been sent and record what the client says, including reasons for a delay.
- Basic knowledge of how business development and lead qualification work, from training, studies, an internship or a previous sales role.
- Comfort reading financial and business documents with care and pulling out the three or four points that matter.
- Clear writing in English: short paragraphs, precise wording, nothing left vague for the reader to interpret.
- Care with detail when updating a pipeline, confirming a meeting or sending a summary, so nothing is lost between steps.
- An organized way of working that keeps a list of contacts and follow-up dates in order across several weeks.
- Reliability with commitments and discretion with client names, figures and unpublished plans.
- Willingness to learn the firm's services well enough to explain them accurately in a first conversation.
- Familiarity with a customer relationship management tool, such as HubSpot or Salesforce.
- German or French, which helps with engagements that reach headquarters and regional operations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
- Coursework or a previous role in consulting, professional services or corporate finance.
- Permanent, full-time position.
- Remote, working from Boston, United States.
- Medical, dental and vision insurance.
- 401(k) with company match.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
- Annual professional development budget.
- Laptop and home office equipment for remote work.
