AV Technician – Commercial Audio Visual Location: Tempe, AZ
Pay: $20.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience

AV Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced AV Technician for a contract opportunity with a leading technology solutions provider in the Tempe, Arizona area. There may be an opportunity for long-term or full-time employment based on business needs, project requirements and performance. 
This is a hands-on position installing, servicing, testing and troubleshooting commercial audiovisual and low-voltage systems, including Bogen, Cisco, Extron and more. The technician will work as part of an experienced project team and may also work independently depending on the assignment. 

Responsibilities: 

• Install, service, test and troubleshoot commercial audio-visual systems 
  
• Install projectors, projection screens and flat-panel displays 
  
• Install wall- and ceiling-mounted speakers and cameras 
  
• Install tabletop, ceiling and wireless microphone systems 
  
• Perform rack fabrication, equipment staging and equipment installation 
  
• Install and work with Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic and other structured cabling 
  
• Pull, dress, organize and label cable according to industry standards 
  
• Install outlets, patch panels, fiber enclosures, racks, backboards and related hardware
  
• Perform copper and fiber splicing and identify active circuits 
  
• Assist with grounding infrastructure and grounding testing 
  
• Upload and download control programs, including Extron systems 
  
• Assist with minor programming changes under the direction of an engineer or programmer 
  
• Use appropriate test equipment to troubleshoot and verify system performance 
  
• Work in both new construction and retrofit environments 
  
• Complete required job-site documentation 
  
• Follow all company and job-site safety requirements 
  
• Provide professional customer service while working at client locations 
  

Qualifications: 

• High school diploma, technical school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  
• Approximately 3+ years of experience with communications infrastructure, structured cabling, commercial AV or related low-voltage installation 
  
• Experience working with fiber, copper, coax and/or hybrid cabling 
  
• Understanding of commercial audio and video systems 
  
• Ability to read and work from installation plans and technical documentation 
  
• Ability to safely use hand tools and appropriate test equipment 
  
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills 
  
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team 
  
• Willingness to work overtime, nights or weekends when project requirements call for it Valid driver's license required 
  

Preferred Experience / Certifications: 
Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: 

• Bogen commercial audio/intercom systems 
  
• Cisco 
  
• Extron 
  
• BSS DSP systems 
  
• Video over IP 
  
• CTS or CTS-I certification 
  
• OSHA 10 
  
• CCNA 
  
• Commercial sound reinforcement, paging, public address and DSP systems 
  
• Candidates do not need to hold every certification listed above to be considered. 
  
• Relevant hands-on commercial AV and low-voltage experience is strongly valued. 
  

Physical Requirements: 

• This position may require standing, walking, climbing steps, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and working in active commercial installation environments. 
  
• Candidates must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position, with reasonable accommodation as applicable.

• Candidates must maintain a valid driver's license.

Compensation: $20.00–$40.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
