Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced SMSF Accountant (Intermediate–Senior) to deliver accurate, compliant, and end-to-end SMSF administration for Australian clients.
The role will manage the complete SMSF administration process, including fund processing, financial statement preparation, audit preparation, tax lodgements, and compliance using Class Super and BGL Simple Fund 360. The position will also involve liaising with auditors, managing ATO lodgements and deadlines, processing pension and contribution transactions, maintaining investment strategy documentation, and assisting with overflow compliance work across individual, trust, and company tax returns.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end SMSF processing, including:
- Fund setup
- Transaction processing
- Bank and investment reconciliations
- Fund setup
- Prepare annual financial statements, member statements, and SMSF annual returns for review and lodgement.
- Prepare complete audit workpaper packages and liaise directly with auditors to resolve queries.
- Process pension establishments, commutations, and contribution transactions in line with compliance requirements.
- Develop and update SMSF investment strategy documentation.
- Prepare and lodge Activity Statements, including GST coding and reconciliations.
- Manage ATO lodgements and monitor SMSF annual return and BAS deadlines.
- Assist with overflow compliance work, including individual, trust, and company tax returns.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of proven experience in Australian SMSF accounting, including end-to-end fund administration.
- Mandatory experience using Class Super and/or BGL Simple Fund 360.
- Strong knowledge of ATO and SIS compliance requirements.
- Experience liaising with auditors and managing audit queries.
- Xero experience is highly regarded.
- Experience with workflow tools such as FYI and XPM is an advantage.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
