About the Employer
Our client delivers engineering and construction services across transport, defence and major infrastructure. Its teams combine practical project delivery with technical innovation, collaborative working and a focus on sustainable outcomes.
The Opportunity
Help maintain safe working practices on a major rail signalling upgrade in Perth. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, you will advise project leaders and site teams throughout the installation, testing and commissioning of modern train control systems.
Your Responsibilities
- Put the project’s integrated safety management system into practice, maintain risk registers and check compliance with legislation and site management plans.
- Guide employees and subcontractors on safe work method statements, authorised work plans, pre-start briefings and plant inspection procedures.
- Carry out site inspections, safety audits, risk assessments, competency checks and drug and alcohol testing.
- Coordinate incident reporting and ICAM investigations, record findings in the relevant reporting systems and follow corrective actions through to completion.
- Support injury management and return-to-work arrangements, including treatment planning and consultation with relevant parties.
- Turn safety performance data into useful reports, identify emerging risks and support the development of less experienced safety practitioners.
Requirements
Skills, Education and Requirements
- At least four years of health and safety practice on substantial construction or infrastructure projects.
- A Diploma or Advanced Diploma in health and safety, business or a related field. A degree is preferred.
- Lead ICAM Incident Investigation certification is essential.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or a Lead Auditor qualification would be an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, subcontractor oversight and integrated HSE management systems.
- Experience preparing return-to-work plans, conducting safety audits and delivering practical safety training.
- A current C-class driver’s licence.
