About Livewire
Livewire is a Richmond-based electrical, lighting, audio/video, and home automation company serving residential and commercial clients throughout Central Virginia. Our work ranges from residential renovations and electrical service to commercial buildouts, custom lighting systems, lighting controls, and integrated technology solutions. We are looking for an experienced, Virginia-licensed Journeyman Electrician who is ready to take ownership of projects and help grow our electrical department. Position Overview This is a hands-on leadership position for an electrician who can confidently run projects from start to finish. We need someone who understands the importance of quality workmanship, efficient execution, communication, and meeting project schedules. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, directing other technicians when needed, interpreting plans, coordinating with other trades, and making sound field decisions without requiring constant supervision.
Responsibilities
• Lead and perform electrical installations on residential and commercial projects.
• Independently plan, organize, and execute assigned work.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Direct and coordinate other electricians and apprentices as needed.
• Complete installations efficiently while maintaining high workmanship standards.
• Identify potential issues early and communicate solutions before they impact project schedules or budgets.
• Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, customers, and other trades.
• Perform troubleshooting, service work, panel installations, circuit additions, renovations, and new construction wiring.
• Maintain accurate communication regarding job progress, material needs, and scheduling.
• Ensure work complies with the National Electrical Code and applicable local requirements.
• Learn and assist with lighting control systems, low-voltage wiring, and integrated automation solutions.
What We're Looking For
We value electricians who take initiative, work efficiently, and take responsibility for the jobs they run. You should be comfortable making decisions, planning ahead, and keeping projects moving without sacrificing quality. We are especially interested in someone who wants to build a long-term career, take on responsibility, and contribute to the continued growth of our electrical department. Experience with automation and low-voltage systems is a plus, but not required. We are willing to train the right electrician who brings strong electrical fundamentals, leadership, and a willingness to learn
• Active Virginia Journeyman Electrician license or higher.
• Experience performing residential and/or commercial electrical installations.
• Demonstrated ability to independently run electrical projects.
• Strong understanding of NEC requirements and safe electrical practices.
• Ability to read construction drawings and troubleshoot electrical systems.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage job timelines efficiently.
• Ability to lead other technicians and communicate professionally with customers and project teams.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Professional attitude, accountability, and pride in workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in both residential and commercial electrical work.
• Previous experience as a lead electrician, foreman, or job site supervisor.
• Experience with custom homes, renovations, commercial tenant improvements, and service work.
• Familiarity with Lutron lighting controls or similar systems.
• Experience with low-voltage wiring, structured cabling, or automation systems.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and expand beyond traditional electrical installations.
