2. Job Brief Description

The Global Syndication & Rights Monetization Director serves as the international market navigator and commercial distribution architect for all published client assets. Producing world-class literature, peer-reviewed white papers, and corporate textbooks is futile if those assets remain locked in static digital silos or inaccessible local markets. This partner leads our Multi-Channel Global Distribution stream, architecting zero-inventory, high-yield global fulfillment pipelines that place client intellectual assets directly into the hands of institutional readers worldwide.

Operating at the strategic intersection of global wholesale networks, automated print-on-demand (POD) API architectures, international copyright syndication, and yield accounting, the Director connects client titles to more than 40,000 physical bookstores, academic research libraries, university consortiums, and digital retail channels across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Africa. In direct collaboration with client authors, institutional directors, and family office principals, this partner eliminates physical warehousing overhead, automates royalty yields, and ensures maximum worldwide sovereign brand reach.

3. Required Skills & Competencies

(Sourced directly from the DADYMINDS Unit Employee Skill Set Framework)

Primary Hard & Technical Competencies
  1. Global Distribution Metadata Engineering & POD API Operations (Skill #6): Expert mastery of ONIX (2.1 and 3.0) data standards, BISAC/Thema subject taxonomies, automated IngramSpark/KDP/OverDrive API integrations, and international trade fulfillment protocols.

  2. Enterprise Workflow & Automation Architecture (Skill #9): Building and managing end-to-end inventory management and order orchestration pipelines using enterprise tools (Zoho Inventory, Zoho Creator, and secure API webhooks) to synchronize print orders, returns, and digital rights.

  3. Intellectual Property Structuring & Copyright Licensing (Skill #8): Structuring sovereign territorial rights syndication, international translation licenses, audio/digital rights syndication, and global distributor terms while guaranteeing clients retain 100% IP ownership.

  4. Bibliographic Indexing & Citation Management (Skill #5): Configuring institutional MARC records, Dublin Core metadata schemes, Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), and Library of Congress / British Library cataloging for academic lending and research repository integration.

  5. Advanced Pre-Press Typography & Print Quality Verification (Skill #3): Auditing interior grid structures, barcode vector placements, pre-flight color profiles (CMYK vs. RGB), and POD spine width tolerances to guarantee zero print reject rates across global facilities.

Secondary Strategic & Operational Competencies
  1. Commercial Royalty Accounting & Yield Optimization (Skill #5): Auditing complex cross-border sales ledgers, managing distributor wholesale discount thresholds (30% to 55%), and optimizing international tax treaty withholdings (W-8BEN/W-8BEN-E) to maximize client net yield.

  2. Library Consortium & Academic Outreach (Skill #7): Direct relationship management and catalog pitching to major university library consortia, public library digital distributors (OverDrive, ProQuest, EBSCO, Bibliotheca), and academic institutional repositories.

  3. Digital Rights Management (DRM) & Cloud Data Security (Skill #4): Deploying enterprise-grade DRM controls, dynamic forensic watermarking, and secure credentialed access portals to safeguard executive monographs and proprietary trade manuals against piracy.

  4. Print Production Sourcing & Material Specifications (Skill #8): Translating luxury aesthetic requirements (case laminate, cloth hardcovers, dust jackets, foil stamping, FSC-certified text paper) into scalable global POD and short-run offset production parameters.

  5. Cross-Unit Ecosystem Synchronization (Skill #9): Partnering with the DADYMINDS Big 8 ecosystem—collaborating with the Legal and Compliance Unit for cross-border syndication agreements and the Technologies Agency (DTIA) for custom client portal API integrations.

4. Core Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Global Wholesale Architecture: Configure and maintain frictionless catalog distribution pipelines connecting client publications to 40,000+ brick-and-mortar bookstores, academic libraries, corporate archives, and online retailers (including Bookshop.org, Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble).

  • Zero-Inventory POD Infrastructure: Deploy automated API connections linking retail purchase events directly to regional print-on-demand facilities in the Americas, Europe, Australia, and Asia, eliminating warehousing liabilities and upfront physical print debt.

  • Institutional & Library Syndication: Secure direct catalog indexing within major academic and institutional lending ecosystems (OverDrive/Libby, ProQuest, EBSCOhost, Gardners), ensuring global institutional discoverability.

  • Royalty & Yield Monetization Engines: Oversee transparent quarterly sales accounting, foreign currency remittances, and distributor discount structures, delivering auditable yield reports and direct royalty disbursements to corporate clients.

  • Rights Licensing & Subsidiary Packaging: Package and negotiate sovereign subsidiary rights—including foreign-language translation licenses, audiobook adaptations, corporate white-label reprinting rights, and academic course-pack syndication.

  • Stream Leadership & Scalability: Direct the Multi-Channel Global Distribution service stream, mentoring logistics analysts, distribution operators, and metadata specialists to maintain continuous operational expansion.

  • Digital Security & Rights Management: Enterprise DRM engines, Adobe Content Server, forensic watermarking pipelines, and secure cloud distribution vaults.

  • Global Commercial Vision: Deep, intuitive comprehension of international book trade dynamics, exchange-rate hedging, and territorial licensing nuances.

  • Algorithmic & Metadata Precision: Extreme attention to technical detail regarding ISBN pools, barcode verifications, metadata classifications, and BISAC tagging algorithms.

  • High-Stakes Diplomatic Tact: Executive presence and negotiation posture required to secure favorable discount margins with institutional distributors and international rights buyers.
