This is an on-site role, working 5 days per week from our office in Broxburn, West Lothian.

The Role
This is an on-site role, working 5 days per week from our office in Broxburn, West Lothian.
What you’ll do
- Full Lifecycle Testing & Verification: Takes hands-on ownership of product testing across the entire New Product Development lifecycle - from early prototype evaluation to production readiness - pushing hardware to failure to ensure peak performance and reliability.
- In-House Instrumentation & Rig Expansion: Drives the design, build, and commissioning of specialised test rigs and precision instrumentation, enabling deeper, repeatable, and automated testing in-house.
- Test Method & Standard Development: Identify gaps in current testing capabilities and develop advanced, standardized test methods and SOPs to ensure testing processes keep pace with our 6–12 month product roadmap and feed into department-wide standards.
- Data-Driven Insights & Collaboration: Analyze complex test data to provide actionable feedback to Mechanical and Design Engineers, ensuring rapid product iteration and continuous quality improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance & Global Standards: Monitor global compliance standards and manage relationships with external test facilities, quality-checking external test outputs and feeding into departmental testing standards.
- Data & Simulation Integration: Combines empirical test data with structural, thermal, or mechanical simulation models to deliver actionable insights, aligning virtual predictions with physical real-world outcomes for the design team.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in testing products through the development lifecycle
- A solid theoretical foundation in core engineering principles.
- Practical experience testing hardware products and rapid prototypes.
- Experience with 3D modelling (SolidWorks preferred) and test fixture development.
- A degree, qualification or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain and present test results.
- Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment.
- A team‑focused, optimistic, and solution‑driven mindset.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfort and willingness to handle and prepare all types of food products (including dairy, gluten, meat, etc.) during testing.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience testing consumer products.
- Experience testing electric motors, gearboxes, or power transmission systems under load.
- Familiarity with 3D printing and other rapid‑prototyping tools.
- Confidence working with machine shop tools.
- Experience with precision measurement instruments.
- Previous lab experience.
