Eddy Current (ET) NDT Inspector – Level II (NAS 410 Eligible)

Position Summary - Contract

The Level II Eddy Current (ET) NDT Inspector is responsible for performing, interpreting, evaluating, and documenting eddy current examinations on aerospace components, assemblies, and materials in accordance with approved procedures, customer requirements, engineering specifications, and applicable industry standards. The incumbent shall possess a minimum of five (5) years of relevant nondestructive testing experience and be capable of meeting the qualification and certification requirements of the employer's NAS 410-based Written Practice. NAS 410 aerospace personnel qualification and certification requirements are referenced within your organization's NDT program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform Level II Eddy Current inspections using approved techniques and procedures.
  
• Set up, standardize, calibrate, and operate eddy current equipment.
  
• Conduct inspections on aerospace structures, components, fastener holes, tubing, and other metallic parts as required.
  
• Interpret and evaluate test indications in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, acceptance criteria, and customer requirements.
  
• Determine and document acceptability or rejectability of inspected hardware within authorized certification limits.
  
• Prepare accurate inspection reports, records, and data packages.
  
• Verify equipment calibration status and maintain inspection equipment in accordance with applicable procedures.
  
• Review work instructions, technical publications, process specifications, and engineering documentation prior to inspection activities.
  
• Assist in troubleshooting inspection techniques and equipment issues.
  
• Provide technical guidance and direction to Level I trainees and technicians.
  
• Maintain compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  
• Participate in audits, proficiency demonstrations, technical performance evaluations, and continuous improvement activities.
  
• Support investigations of nonconforming material and inspection discrepancies.
  

Requirements

Certification Requirements

• Currently certified or capable of becoming certified as a Level II Eddy Current Inspector under the employer's NAS 410-compliant Written Practice.
  
• Must successfully complete required examinations, practical demonstrations, training, and documented experience requirements as established by the employer and applicable customer contracts.
  
• Must maintain annual vision examinations and certification status as required by the governing certification program. NAS 410 personnel qualification programs typically require annual vision verification and employer certification records.
  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of electromagnetic testing principles and eddy current inspection methods.
  
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and acceptance criteria.
  
• Knowledge of aerospace inspection techniques, standards, and quality requirements.
  
• Proficiency with eddy current instruments, probes, reference standards, and calibration techniques.
  
• Ability to identify, evaluate, and document discontinuities and material conditions.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  
• Proficiency with standard computer applications and electronic quality documentation systems.
  
• Ability to train and mentor lower-level personnel.
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform inspections in manufacturing, laboratory, flight-line, or field environments.
  
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 40 pounds.
  
• Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated locations, and varying environmental conditions when required.
  
• Must be able to meet vision requirements necessary for NAS 410 certification, including near vision and color differentiation as applicable.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior aerospace manufacturing, MRO, military aviation, or defense-industry experience.
  
• Certifications in additional NDT methods (PT, MT, VT, UT, RT).
  
• Experience with automated or semi-automated eddy current systems.
  
• Familiarity with aerospace quality systems such as AS9100, NADCAP, and customer-specific requirements.
