A leading bulk distribution oil company operating in Ghana that specializes in the procurement, supply, and distribution of energy products such as Super (Petrol), Diesel, Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK), Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Bitumen and Lubricants.

Job Description

Role Overview

The General Manager will primarily provide a strategic mandate in securing and leveraging appropriate financial instruments to support the company’s oil trading activities while overseeing the overall BDC operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop strategic business and leadership Strategy & oversee effective implementation
  
• Strong ability to secure financial instruments for revenue growth
  
• Set monthly target on profit margins, achieve targets and report
  
• Make pricing, investment, and resource allocation decisions within your mandate
  
• Build customer and partner relationships that protect and grow key revenue
  
• Ensure legal, regulatory, and company policy compliance across the unit
  
• Represent and report results, risks, and roadmap
  
• Operations & Supply Chain Management
  
• Ensure Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
  
• Effective Financial & Budget Management
  
• Oversee Business Development/Sales, Marketing & Client Relations
  
• Effective Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
  
• Own the business unit P&L and deliver revenue, margin, and profit targets
  
• Lead and align department heads across sales, operations, finance, and support functions
  

Requirements

• 10–20 years’ experience in General Manager or senior leader roles 
  
• A degree in business administration/finance or a related field. An MBA or MSC will be an added advantage.
  
• Experience in the oil industry or a similar operating model
  
• Experience leading a turnaround, integration, or rapid growth phase
  
• Familiarity with the markets or regions the unit serves
  
• Proven work experience as a General Manager or senior leader with multi-department responsibility 
  
• P&L management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and margin improvement 
  
• Track record of delivering revenue and profit targets in a comparable business
  
• Ability to lead leaders: setting direction, coaching, and holding department heads accountable
  
• Strong commercial judgment across sales, pricing, and customer relationships
  
• Solid grasp of operations, enough to challenge plans and spot problems early
  
• Excellent communication skills with staff, customers, and senior stakeholders
