Staff Nurse - Cath Lab & Angiography Day Unit

We are currently hiring a Staff Nurse - Cath Lab & Angiography Day Unit for a hospital in Galway, Ireland.

This is a permanent, full-time position

 Responsibilities

• Work on a rotational basis across the Cath Lab and Angiography Day Unit, carrying out duties assigned by the CNM3/CNM2 and supporting the delivery of safe, efficient patient care.
  

• Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures, including coronary angiography, PCI, electrophysiology procedures, device implantation and structural heart interventions.
  

• Complete patient admission, pre-procedure assessment and preparation, including cannulation, medication checks, clinical documentation and patient and family education.
  

• Develop and maintain competence in scrub, circulating and monitoring roles within the Cath Lab, including haemodynamic and ECG monitoring and accurate recording of procedural information.
  

• Provide post-procedure care and recovery in the Angiography Day Unit, including observations, vascular access-site management, recognition and escalation of deterioration, and safe discharge planning.
  

• Administer and manage medications in accordance with hospital policies, including the safe custody, administration and documentation of controlled drugs, while responding effectively to emergencies and supporting resuscitation.
  

• Maintain high standards of infection prevention, radiation and patient safety, while contributing to equipment and stock management, audits, quality improvement, education and the supervision of junior staff and students.
  

Requirements

• Be a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current registration and good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  

• Have a minimum of two years’ post-registration nursing experience, with experience in Cath Lab, cardiology, coronary care, critical care, theatre/recovery or acute medicine considered desirable.
  

• Demonstrate strong clinical assessment, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care.
  

• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team within a busy acute hospital environment.
  

• Show a commitment to continuous professional development and willingness to undertake competency-based training relevant to Cath Lab and Angiography Day Unit practice.
  

• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in working practices, including participation in an on-call rota following appropriate training and competency assessment.
  

• Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining high standards of clinical practice, patient safety, professional conduct and evidence-based nursing care.
