Security Controls Assessor

In this role, you will conduct independent assessments of management, operational, and technical security controls, support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process, and help maintain system authorization documentation and security posture for programs operating at the site. This is a one-year, fully onsite contract position requiring an active DOE Q clearance; no travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain security controls aligned with approved baselines and organizational requirements
- Support system authorization activities, including the development and maintenance of security documentation such as System Security Plans (SSPs) and Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms)
- Monitor system security posture and identify risks, vulnerabilities, and compliance gaps
- Track and manage POA&Ms and coordinate remediation activities with system stakeholders
- Assess the security impact of system changes and support configuration and change management processes
- Support continuous monitoring activities, including vulnerability management and security reporting
- Serve as a security liaison between system teams, cybersecurity operations, and governance bodies
- Prepare systems for security assessments, audits, and Authorizing Official reviews
- Deliver System Security Plans (SSPs) to the customer Field Office in support of Approval to Operate (ATO)
Requirements
Active DOE Q security clearance (required at time of application; must be maintained throughout employment)Firm understanding of NIST SP 800-37 and NIST SP 800-53; CNSSI 1253 experience a plus
Associate's degree and 5-20 years of relevant experience OR;
Bachelor's degree and 2-15 years of experience OR;
Master's degree and 1-10 years of experience OR;
Ph.D. and 0-5 years of experience
Technical field experience is weighted more heavily than minimum education requirements
Must reside within a commutable distance from Oak Ridge, TN
Ability to work onsite full-time for the duration of a one-year contract
