Engineering Lead (Cape Town)

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to play a critical role in leading our IT engineering function, maintaining and enhancing technology platforms and ensuring seamless digital experiences across all customer touchpoints.

You will lead a talented team of engineers while collaborating closely with Product, Technology and other cross-functional stakeholders to drive the strategic direction and execution of key technology initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous learning.
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute the technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
  
• Drive the design, development and optimisation of platforms, ensuring scalability, reliability and security.
  
• Provide strong technical guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget.
  
• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact and relevance to the business.
  
• Partner with Product Managers and key stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions, driving alignment and execution.
  
• Implement best practices, processes and tools to streamline development workflows and improve engineering efficiency.
  
• Monitor and analyse platform performance metrics, identifying opportunities for optimisation and continuous improvement to enhance the customer experience.
  

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
Proven experience in software development and technical leadership, with a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire, develop and motivate engineering teams.
Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns and development best practices, with hands-on experience across both backend and frontend development.
Experience working with cloud platforms, such as AWS and/or Azure, together with modern development frameworks and tools.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a passion for driving technical excellence and innovation.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, effectively prioritising and managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
