Position Summary

Novastar Kids Co. is seeking a reliable, enthusiastic, and creative Substitute Music Teacher to provide music instruction for Kindergarten through 2nd Grade (K–2) students on an as-needed basis.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, can adapt to changing schedules, and is comfortable leading engaging music activities that encourage creativity, participation, and a love of music.

This is a part-time, flexible position with hours scheduled based on school needs.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide music instruction for K–2 students as scheduled.

• Follow existing lesson plans or lead age-appropriate music activities when needed.

• Introduce basic musical concepts through singing, rhythm, movement, and instruments.

• Maintain a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment.

• Encourage student participation, creativity, and self-expression.

• Adapt activities to meet the developmental needs of young learners.

• Manage classroom behavior and maintain student supervision.

• Collaborate with classroom teachers and school leadership.

• Maintain classroom materials and musical instruments.

• Follow school policies, procedures, and safety expectations.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.

• Background in music, music education, or related experience preferred.

• Basic knowledge of music instruction, rhythm, singing, and instruments.

• Ability to lead engaging activities for K–2 students.

• Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.

• Dependable, flexible, and comfortable working on an as-needed schedule.

• Ability to meet applicable Colorado background check and school employment requirements.

Schedule & Compensation

• Position: Part-Time / As Needed

• Pay Rate: 22.00–25.00 per hour

• Flexible scheduling based on school needs.

• Hours are not guaranteed and may vary.
