Forward Deployed Engineer - CAD & Desktop Integrations

Arbisoft is hiring this role for a client project that builds software sitting inside CAD and desktop engineering tools — plugins that load inside applications like SolidWorks or CATIA, open a local communication channel, and let external systems (including AI agents) talk to them in real time. There are 25 to 30 integrations in place and growing, each needing to be built properly, maintained as tools update, and iterated on over time.
This is a forward deployed role: embedded with the client, owning the integration architecture technically and in the room, and being the person who explains and defends the decisions.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY BE DOING

• Design integration architecture across CAD and desktop tools, owning the decisions when someone asks why.
• Build and maintain plugin bridges for Windows-based CAD tools using whatever fits — WebSockets, HTTP, gRPC, named pipes.
• Handle JSON message passing and code execution within host application environments.
• Keep integrations alive as vendors push breaking updates, with regression coverage that catches it before the client does.
• Design how AI agents interact with these tools — interaction patterns, tool definitions and failure handling that hold up in production.
• Engage directly with the client: present, defend, and document your architectural choices.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

• 5+ years with real system architecture depth — you've designed systems, not just built features.
• Comfortable across multiple languages (Python primary; JavaScript, C# a plus) and inter-process communication (WebSockets, gRPC, named pipes, HTTP).
• Built plugins or extensions for desktop apps before (IDE extensions, CAD plugins, etc.); Windows debugging experience.
• Working knowledge of LLM tool-use and agent orchestration.
• Client-facing — comfortable presenting, defending decisions, holding your ground.
• Fluent with AI dev tools and disciplined about verifying output in host environments, where a wrong call can crash someone's session.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

NICE TO HAVE

• Familiarity with CAD tools and their APIs.
• CATScript, VBScript or similar proprietary scripting languages.
