Job Role – Heavy Equipment & Commercial Vehicle Technician

Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair heavy construction equipment and commercial vehicles.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing on excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, graders, rollers, backhoe loaders, tipper trucks, and other fleet vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, transmission, braking, steering, and engine systems.
- Perform routine inspections and identify faults before they result in equipment failure.
- Replace or repair defective parts, components, and systems using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Conduct emergency repairs and breakdown assistance on construction sites when required.
- Maintain detailed service records, maintenance reports, and repair documentation.
- Ensure all equipment and vehicles comply with company maintenance standards and applicable safety regulations.
- Work closely with Site Supervisors, Equipment Operators, and Fleet Management to minimise equipment downtime.
- Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good working condition and ensure a clean and safe work environment.
- Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures and company policies.
- Carry out manual work related to the assigned job as required by the site supervisor.
- Carry out any other maintenance and repair duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician, Diesel Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
- Proven experience servicing and repairing heavy construction machinery and commercial vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, transmissions, braking systems, and diagnostic procedures.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, service documentation, and maintenance schedules.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Must be physically fit and willing to carry out manual work related to the assigned job.
- Basic knowledge of spoken and written English.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical qualification or certification in Heavy Equipment Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
- Experience working within the road construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure sector.
- Experience using electronic diagnostic equipment and manufacturer service tools.
- Welding or fabrication skills are considered an advantage.
- Valid driving licence (Category C or higher) is considered an asset.
