Monitor and assess trends that may affect the economic and political situation in SADC Member States.
Provide the Executive Secretary with up-to-date information on substantive economic and political matters relevant to the SADC region.
Follow regional and internal developments and provide timely advice to the Executive Secretary in collaboration with relevant directorates.
Support regional integration issues requiring specific research and follow-up, determine appropriate courses of action and advise the Executive Secretary.
Follow up on politically sensitive matters requiring immediate attention.
Act as secretary to Senior Management meetings.
Prepare analytical reports and papers on matters of concern to the Executive Secretary.
Review incoming technical information and documentation, classify it and prepare summaries.

Coordinate and integrate substantive input from various Directorates and Units into briefs and analytical papers for internal and external engagements.
Maintain effective communication with internal directorates to understand the status and progress of the regional integration programme.
Provide operational and consultative assistance on regional integration matters.
Serve as a liaison between the Secretariat and the wider community, including businesses, non-profit entities and other non-state actors.
Organise and coordinate the Executive Secretary’s external relations activities.


Requirements

  • Proven ability to monitor and assess complex economic and political trends within the SADC region.
  • Strong capacity to provide timely, high-quality advice and information to senior leadership.
  • Experience in conducting research, analyzing data, and preparing detailed analytical reports.
  • Demonstrated skill in coordinating cross-functional inputs and synthesizing information for strategic briefs.
  • Proficiency in managing sensitive political matters with discretion and urgency.
  • Experience serving in a secretarial capacity for senior management meetings.
  • Ability to act as an effective liaison between the organization and diverse external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate external relations and engagement activities.
  • Excellent communication skills to maintain effective internal collaboration and external engagement.
