A public Pre-K–8 school district serving more than 2,500 students across three elementary schools and one middle school, this district is committed to creating an inclusive, collaborative learning environment where students are supported academically, socially, and emotionally. The district offers innovative programs including Dual Language, STEAM, and 1:1 student technology initiatives and is seeking a School Psychologist who can use assessment, data-driven interventions, consultation, and collaboration to support student achievement and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in School Psychology, an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Psychology endorsement, and experience supporting academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs in a school setting.
What you will be doing:
- Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate students' intellectual, academic, emotional, behavioral, and social development.
- Analyze assessment and progress-monitoring data to identify student strengths and needs and guide intervention planning.
- Develop recommendations and interventions that support both general and special education programming.
- Monitor student progress and adjust academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions based on data.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and other professionals to address student needs and promote positive outcomes.
- Schedule and coordinate initial and re-evaluation multidisciplinary team meetings (MDCs).
- Complete evaluation, referral, and other required documentation in accordance with Illinois regulations and established timelines.
- Assist teachers with classroom behavior management strategies and evidence-based behavioral interventions.
- Support parents and caregivers in implementing appropriate behavioral strategies at home.
- Provide individual or group counseling and social-emotional support to students when appropriate.
- Identify students at risk for academic, behavioral, or emotional concerns through screening and assessment.
- Participate in preschool and ongoing student screening programs.
- Provide support during individual and school-wide crisis situations.
- Help develop academic goals and interventions for students who are at risk of academic failure.
- Provide technical assistance with student data management, interpretation, problem-solving, and program evaluation.
- Collaborate with community agencies and other service providers to coordinate student support.
- Apply current research and professional best practices to improve psychological services and student outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records and uphold professional and ethical standards.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
- Supervise eligible school psychology interns or practicum students when appropriate.
- Maintain and update Medicaid/Fee-for-Service documentation as required.
Experience you will need:
- Master’s degree in School Psychology.
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Psychology endorsement.
- Knowledge of evidence-based academic, behavioral, and social-emotional intervention strategies.
- Experience conducting and interpreting psychological and educational assessments.
- Experience using student data to develop and monitor individualized academic and behavioral interventions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with students, families, educators, administrators, and community partners.
- Ability to analyze data and contribute to data-driven decision-making.
- Strong understanding of confidentiality, professional ethics, and school-based practices.
- Experience supporting students performing below grade level is preferred.
- Experience working in diverse school communities is preferred.
- Bilingual/Fluent Spanish is preferred.
