Seeking a Compassionate Pediatric Ventilator Patient Specialist in Southborough, MA

In this role, you will support ALS and/or pediatric patients who rely on ventilator therapy, serving as their primary clinical partner throughout their care journey. You will build trusting relationships with patients and caregivers, provide education with empathy, and ensure safe, consistent ventilator management that enhances comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Your work directly strengthens patient health outcomes and supports families during some of their most vulnerable moments.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for pediatric ventilator patients and their caregivers, offering compassionate guidance, emotional support, and clear communication.
  • Conduct patient assessments with sensitivity to each child’s unique medical needs, developmental stage, and family dynamics.
  • Provide supportive, easy‑to‑understand education to caregivers on ventilator use, safety, maintenance, and troubleshooting—empowering families to feel confident in their child’s care.
  • Set up, monitor, and adjust highly technical respiratory equipment with a focus on comfort, safety, and individualized pediatric needs.
  • Maintain thorough, accurate documentation of all services and interactions to support continuity of care and clinical excellence.
  • Participate in on‑call assignments, offering calm, compassionate phone support to families during after‑hours concerns or emergencies.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date licensure, certifications, and continuing education to ensure high‑quality, evidence‑based pediatric respiratory care.
  • Support the orientation and training of team members, modeling empathy‑driven communication and child‑centered care practices.
  • Keep workspace and equipment organized, clean, and safe to support reliable care delivery.
  • Perform additional duties as required by state licensure or leadership to ensure pediatric patients receive safe, dignified, and attentive ventilator support.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm

On-Call Duties: On‑call coverage is one full week every 4–6 weeks, depending on staffing needs.


Requirements

Required Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, required
  • Credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) is preferred but other medical credentials may be acceptable (e.g., RN) depending upon state licensure laws
  • Must be licensed in the primary state of home office as required by state law and provide a copy of license to the location
  • Pediatric and/or ALS Ventilation experience is required

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • Completion of an accredited program/degree in respiratory care preferred; nursing (RN) may be acceptable depending upon state licensure laws
  • Home respiratory care experience is preferred or equivalent hospital experience
  • May be required to obtain license in neighboring states as required by defined service area of location
  • Proficient in the use of equipment download software (Care Orchestrator, Astral, etc.)


Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a background check, drug screening, compliance onboarding, and credentialing requirements, as well as maintaining a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record when applicable to the position.
